Also, I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but somehow this bozo was invited onto the court to do the honorary coin toss for Canada vs. Egypt. The let me know that if I dropped the coin, they'd have to cancel the rest of the tournament. No pressure! (Don't worry I caught it)

Then there is Morocco. Because of visa issues, two players and the head coach couldn't come. The three women who did, played every minute of every game with no subs and almost won their Division. They made a statement for the women of Morocco. fansided.com/morocco-make...

Second is the time I spent with the Puerto Rican teams. They didn't get the triumphant endings they were hoping for, but they were so eager to welcome to the world, so proud of what they had to share and so excited about the future of Unified basketball on the island: fansided.com/puerto-rico-...

I met so many amazing, inspiring and talented basketball players, but there are three stories in particular, that are going to stick with me. The first is the men and women of Paraguay. Both teams were, so so good. But their pride in country and bond with each other was remarkable.

I posted about this a little bit already, but I was lucky enough to spend this past weekend in San Juan, Puerto Rico, covering the Special Olympics Unified 3x3 Basketball World Cup. I can say, without hyperbole, that it was the experience of a lifetime and something I will carry with me forever.

Every year our small town does this beautiful memory tree ceremony. People submit names of friends and family who have passed, names are written on little cards on the tree, and read aloud. And then they light the tree ... Half colored lights, half white, some lights not working, some blinking
