thank you woofycakes for this icon. it’s very cute! bsky.app/profile/woof...
yeah, i am digging this aesthetic. i will dub this the Leslie (1926) approach.
trying out if i could incorporate silent film aesthetics into my vn making repertoire. this could look cool. no one would play a vn like this, but i like the look of it.
Leslie (2025) kastelpls.itch.io/leslie-2025 A 800x600 px restoration of a modern classic. 13k words.
added webring stamps to the main Mimidoshima blog. i probably should add more different resolutions but here you go if you wanna link to my blog: mimidoshima.neocities.org/main/
photobashing backgrounds like this is fun. i won’t show too much of my efforts, but i think this will be part of my repertoire. in some way, this is toxic yuri.
drafting backgrounds for my toxic yuri visual novel jam 2 entry.
i’ve been enjoying going through Artgames After Gamergate (2025) by Rob Gallagher for a lot of reasons that i hope i will elucidate in the near future. but something that caught my eye was bringing up my 2019 article claiming that pseudo-ironic dating sims aimed at dating sims that never existed.
playing Crimson Diamond (store.steampowered.com/app/1098770/...) and i relate to this character.
my commonplace book of things that inspired, influenced, and irritated me over the years is now taking shape.
The Hues of These New Colors - What Lessons in Love Means to Me mimidoshima.neocities.org/main/posts/2... The ongoing visual novel about a teacher grooming 20 students that made me try my hand at poetry. 10,000 words. I hope it captures a fragment of why I find this game inspiring.
in lieu of writing an actual post, here are some screencaps of a discussion on why i think Lessons in Love is one of the most insightful works exploring recovery and trauma.
current rankings on LiL characters. see alt text for thoughts on io.
caught up with the current content of Lessons in Love (.57). i need to reflect a bit before spewing my current thoughts, which are all superlatives. but i know that i will support this game no matter what direction it takes.

the first episode of kamiina botan is what i wanted; it tunes the weakest parts to the gay yearning tone of the more recent volumes. and the translation is fantastic too: naturalistic dialog with enough flair to evoke distinctive character voices. excited to see more of my fav yuri manga adapted.
62 hours in, completed chapter 2. if you happen to be my clone who also can handle flashing images, it’s hard to oversell the game: it’s the melodrama of Kuzu no Honkai and Riverdale written in the voice of David Lynch’s films and OreTsuba and packaged in SubaHibi and C+C. this game is awesome.
finished the chapter two’s beach patch in Lessons in Love. utterly in awe over what just transpired. i cannot wait to read more.
i have no idea what’s going on in io’s head, but she is so far the most interesting character introduced in this early new batch of students.
started playing Lessons in Love, still in chapter 1 but enjoying the weird, sometimes erotic horror of it so far.
the aesthetic of the visual novel looks great too: a combination of royalty-free assets with a minimalist interface. and the writing is confident: it plops you into someone’s head without setup. i’m very excited to read more. it’s nice to play a vn that feels great in all departments.
did some basic kde plasma customization, which distracted me from work a bit. i hope this won’t make me one of those unix ui weirdos. but i have to admit: i’m digging the minimalism. if only i have tiling managers easily.
