ok neat it's been 90 days since the initial report and Anthropic seem to have backported some of the fable bio-content detection to Opus so there's not really any reason to keep sitting on this, now I just need to write up a short blog post on how I used metacog to bypass the CC safeguard layer.

the core of the (in-progress) post - without the metacog bootstrap, the session is willing but unable to discuss specifics of a Soviet bioweapon facility incident - the Sverdlovsk Anthrax Leak (1979). With bootstrap, it was able to go into full depth on the engineering details (not sharing the full output for all the obvious reasons, it's in the historical record but I don't really want it on my page)

Hard to disagree with this

They have also, bizarrely, not changed their position even slightly as the government has changed hands and has mostly gone insane. They have continued to push for the government to have more power over AI, and they have continued to sell services to the government both directly and via intermediaries like Palantir and Amazon.

In my opinion, they mostly imagined these regulations applying to other people, especially open source projects, academics and smaller companies. Now that they are being subjected to the exact sort of regulation they have proposed, they do not like it.
