Did some #GNSS ( #GPS ) measurements of plants today. I love plant-driven software development 🌿.

Quite an intense #Kona storm here in #Holualoa #Hawaii. The gusts are definitely tropical storm level. My Sacred Bali Bamboo (Schizostachyum brachycladum) decided to call it a day 😞.

I got my hands one some seeds of Pinanga subterranea, a #palm 🌴 from #Borneo that was described scientifically for the first time in 2023. It is the only known palm so far that flowers and fruits underground! Let's see if the seeds germinate 🙏. #Hawaii #Holualoa

Love the emerging new leaves of Mangifera casturi, the Kalimantan mango, originally from the #Kalimantan region of #Borneo. Our tree was planted in 2019. Hopefully we will see some fruit soon as traditional mangos do not fruit well in our wet elevation of #Holualoa (>2000mm of rain in 2025) #Hawaii

We were at the #NoKings / #NoDictators protests in #Kona #Hawaii today. Despite some heavy rain, 1500 people came (official estimate). It was easily the biggest protest we have witnessed in Kona in 10 years!! It was the last protest in the nation. #Democracy #Freedom
