Making a Midwestern salad that’s not really salad from my mom’s handwritten recipe. I only add a couple of tablespoons of tapioca since what they sell now isn’t the same. It’s fruit so it’s health.

Recipe for orange fluffy salad. one can of sliced peaches one can of pineapple tidbits one can of mandarin oranges. drain them and save the juice because you’ll use it to make the sauce. you need one package cooking serve vanilla pudding, some tapioca one package orange Jell-O. you need 3 cups total liquid. If the fruit juice isn’t enough, add some water. use that to cook the Jell-O and the pudding on the stovetop in saucepan (med low heat I guess) for about five minutes until it’s thickened. Let it cool then add the fruit and one 8 ounce package of thawed Cool Whip let chill then enjoy

When we talk about yearning we really need to include Mr Stevens and Miss Kenton in The Remains of the Day (played by Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson) and especially the book scene.

Like most cats who started life on the streets, my cat Olive has eye herpes. She’s fine, it just makes her eye crust a little goopy. But it also means i get to sing “she’s got herpe eyes!” to the tune of “hungry eyes” as I pet her. Her blep game is also incredibly strong.

Each year for my birthday I read the Dream Song by John Berryman that's the same number as my new age as a sort of horoscope for the year. This year's feels painfully relevant to The Way We Live Now: "Incredible panic rules. Fools elect fools. I myself walked at the funeral of tenderness." oof.

This book is so good but the content is so infuriating that I can only read a little at a time. In case you were wondering, ALA has always been cowardly when it comes to doing the right, but hard, things.
