Gustavus & Basheba Gibson's daughter, Emily Gibson Hampton, was still enslaved when she named her son William Wilberforce, after the British abolitionist. We know this because her brothers, George, John, Daniel and Richard Henry, bought freedom for Emily and her children in 1843. 🗃️ 2/2
