Cannot get enough of this book - Mutiny on the Bounty by @peterfitz1.bsky.social ; I am currently devouring it and taking any chance I can to just spend time with it! Do yourself a favour and read it - a cracker
I have not yet finished The Human Factor by Archie Brown but so far it is fascinating and very engaging account of the end of the Cold War by a man who met many of the key participants
On a bit of an 80s vibe at the moment. This history of Reagan does not have enough detail of his economic policies; only gives a chapter to AIDS and doesn't mention his criminal justice policies at all but is very good on his life story and foreign policy 1/3

Really enjoyed Republic by Alice Hunt. There seems to have been a lot of interest in this period recently - The Blazing World; Devil Land; The Restless Republic; the new Ronald Hutton. This is right up there with the best of them: accessible but informative; really engaging. Recommended.
...her story inspired this painting by Norman Rockwell. In 2011, Ruby was invited to the White House to look at the painting with President Obama. He told her: "I think it's fair to say that if it hadn't been for you guys, I might not be here and we wouldn't be looking at this together"...

I know I bang on about Robert Caro but I'm almost evangelical about him. Everyone should read his history of LBJ and there should be a national holiday when Part 5 comes out. If you have never read it and you have a Spotify account then Part 3 can be consumed on its own and is available for free

Today marks 205 years since The Peterloo Massacre. It is marked in (I think) this beautiful way in a mosiac walkway next to Manchester Library with each victim identified and remembered
Suspect this will take so long that - by the time I'm finished - Part 5 of LBJ might be done
