Confession: Throughout most of my professional career life, I have read mostly technical literature. Now that I have more time, I decided to start reading again. Starting with this lovely little book by Hermann Hesse. I read it many years ago in German. Let's see how I do with the English version 💙
It really is. 6.2 L Ilmor marine racing engine. Very strong. I believe 430 HP. Unfortunately slalom skiing is a dying sport. We are lucky to have a small club and the lake owner is a good friend and importer/exporter. No way any of us could afford this individually.
I spent the hot morning at the ski lake with a new boat. Temperatures: Air 90 (32 C) - Water 92 (33 C). You are literally sweating while waterskiing 🥵. Look at this beauty though. Quit complaining Hjalmar 😅
Nice thunderstorm coming through. A little bit of cooling off is welcome but humidity will remain high or even increase afterwards. Stay hydrated and save everyone 💙
I started listening to some TED talks. Some are really inspiring. So I configured the App on my TV and when I opened it, this showed up and I was wondering: How to raise kids who question AI. I haven't watched it. Maybe it's fantastic. But the title told me: Hjalmar, you are the old guy now 😅
Tonight at a Joe Jackson concert (the UK musician) in Austin TX. It was very good. Joe is now 71 and after growing up with his music in the 1980s in Europe, I was excited to finally see him live for the first time. It was also a realization of my age which left me with a bit of a somber feeling 🤔
Early morning for me with a 5:40 AM flight. I haven't been to this concourse in Atlanta. Looks nice. I was surprised to see so many people at the airport at 4:30 AM on a Saturday morning 🧐. Now on the way to Austin. Free Wi-Fi on Delta. No more offline break.
Good idea, thanks Chris. I don't know how the App is attempting to communicate with the bridge but it just sits there spinning. And I see the bridge and my mobile on the access point.
Lustig... Ich bin 38% Mausig, 23% Atzig und 39% Fotzig 😈 Mach den Test! atzigfotzigmausig.de/result?m=5&a...
I went to church with my wife today since... it must have been 8 years ago. In South Carolina. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with this sign. Nothing major, but the sermon even positively highlighted diversity. I found out the sign is actually from letsbeneighbors.org, still... 🧐😊
I believe my account is overdue for a cat picture. There is some mandatory quota on Bluesky, right ? This cat wants to live outside. She got lost recently (so we believe) and my wife found her after 10 days. She still prefers being outside.
We planted these two Japanese Maples in the front. I wish they would grow a bit faster but regardless, I really like them (I know my driveway has a bunch of cracks - not in the budget this year or even in the near future)
So happy to be back at the ski lake. I am doing terrible early in the season but it's still my favorite sport. I hope my body lets me do it a few more years.
We had a lot of wind in recent weeks. Today it's totally calm and feels very warm.
A few friends from Germany are visiting every spring. We all water ski. A little cooler than normal for South Carolina but water is still 73 Fahrenheit. For me this is the most therapeutic and fun time. Happy Wednesday everyone.
Good morning and happy Sunday to all who celebrate. Blue skies and sunny on an unusually cold morning at 46 Fahrenheit (8 Celsius). Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
The cancellation of the tomahawk deployment is not mentioned enough in the current reporting.
Letting my hair grow some. Not sure yet. Feels a bit weird. But hey, it's me 😀
Noch etwas volatil, aber ich würde sagen ja. Aber ich lebe in South Carolina 😉 Das ist ist Celsius
I love that little Flir Thermal camera that is attached to my mobile device. On a sunny day at 85 degrees (F), I compared a dock with pressure treated wood and a deck with composite that claims to be a cool material. Hardly any difference. Both around 140 Fahrenheit at 4:00 PM.
So happy to be back at my little waterski sanctuary. Little later than usual season start for me. Dang, I am rusty and old. Enjoy your body while it can support your sport.
Oh yes, we also had these things called Litfaßsäule. Those round cylinders with all kinds of posters.
I came here from Germany in 1994 and became a US citizen last April. I love it here and it's definitely home for me. View into my backyard this morning
Good morning and Happy Sunday to those who celebrate. Crisp 37 Fahrenheit (barely 3 Celsius). The water already warmed up a bit, hence the evaporation fog effect. Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
Why Google... Why ? These contact duplications drive me crazy. Seems like every time I move to a new device or add one, contacts are duplicated 🤨😡
