Usually I am always years behind with my anime but this season I am actually watching two shows more or less while they are being aired and feel this could be becoming a thing for me. CHAINSMOKER CAT and DAEMONS OF THE SHADOW REALM both get Thumbs up from me.
Also a little appreciation post of Martha Hyer, an actress I had never taken notice of before but who stood out in CROSSPLOT.
CROSSPLOT (1969) What's not to love when a pre-James Bond Roger Moore meets his future boss Bernard Lee together with Francis Matthews and even Veronica Carlson in a small scene. Plot is utterly bonkers but it does feature a psychedelic party scene happening at a funeral. Groovy, man, groovy!
COUP 53 One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. It exposes the 1953 MI6/CIA-backed coup against Iran’s democratically elected PM Mohammad Mossadegh and its ramifications to this day. Saw it at the Triskel Arts Centre in Cork with director Taghi Amirani in attendance. An absolute must-see.

Had no idea just how many pulp novels (Heftromane) were written inspired by the German Sci Fi TV series "Raumpatrouille Orion".

In Bristol right now and found one of the few remaining video rental places in the world. They even have three small cinema rooms where you you can watch the films you rent. The local pub allows you to bring drinks over to them

The TV was on and I happened to watch a few minutes of a show featuring a handsome, buff and strong jawed beefcake. Nearly collapsed when I realised this was the new... Maigret?!? Like, genuinely, WTF?

Covers for the Mexican comic book series "Fantomas, La Amenaza Elegante". That series is high up on the list of comics I would love to read but can't find any of them archived online and to the best of my knowledge there is no collection of them available to purchase.
“That Bad Eartha” is high up on my list of favourite albums of all time. On a fairly short album of less than 40 minutes she casually sings in English, French, Spanish, Turkish and Suaheli, and every one of those songs is a banger.
Last night had the rare opportunity to finally watch THE MAD EXECUTIONERS in a cinema when @triskelartscentre.bsky.social screened it and were kind enough to ask me to provide an introduction to it for the audience. My life's mission is now accomplished and I can die a happy man.
