I've been shaking my head a lot these last few days. Here's one persons response to why there are flags on our homes. It's one of many and it isn't even one of the weirdest ones on there.
I'm parked at the Montfort school waiting to rally with my husband. I managed to catch images of both the old trails fire and the Autumn Lane fire in one shotThe fire is now only a few blocks from my home. We were going to head to Idaho to my mother's house and now there's a wildfire by her too.
Things escalated pretty quickly with the Autumn Lane fire. This was my view just before I got out. I was loaded because of the old trails fire but this one was getting ready to flank me in. I am safe and parked to rally with my husband once his plane lands.
This is the view from my yard looking East/ Southeast. Now we're hearing active sirens.
Getting help making my bed. Trying to lay out the fitted sheet and she crawled right up inside it. After this video was taken she promptly fell asleep and I was left waiting another hour before finishing. Her name is Hazel, hazelnut, crazy hazy, crazelnut, aka Princess Nutella. #caturday 🐈
Very excited with my new project! I planted a mushroom garden. Pink oysters started pinning Wednesday. Every pic taken approximately 24 hours after previous. I cannot believe how fast they start growing once they pin. Still have Chestnut, Italian oyster, reishi, enoki to emerge.🌱🍄🟫

Quick follow up. I was watering my deck side greenstalk planter, and I accidentally watered my little friend. Fairly certain it's the same one...
Here is her home. Just finishing the soil space to put in. I bought 2 just in case (my luck being what it is)
I ended up having to revert to buying straight from David Austin. This year is The Generous Gardener. About to be planted on my moon gate.
This one, but she didn't make it. Pretty but no clue who she was supposed to be. This happens to me more than I like.
Trying to harvest when I still haven't finished planting. Today's haul was 15 pounds of garlic scapes. I expect my final bed will yield 20-22 pounds more.🌱
I should be asleep right now. But I have insomnia and I've been checking the weather app to see how low the temperature has gone. I am sheltering no less than 1,600 plants in my poly tunnel hoping that's enough protection from the freeze...🌱
I know you can't make them out very well in the picture but these are 2 tier 7 gardenstalk planters full of strawberries. Holds 84 plants between them. Roughly 2 40 ft beds worth. I've got a five tier planter I'm going to put mushrooms in.
Yesterday while peering out my patio door, a hummingbird flew over my deck, stopped in front of me looked at me, and then flew away. I usually have fuchsia planters on either side of my patio door 4 them. I put in a rush order of 3 and today, Patio restaurant is having it soft open...🌱
22.5 trays of peppers just graduated to my high tunnel. That's 23 trays total that I don't have to carry back in the house anymore... I have heated sand tables that I'll cover for warmth at night. Weather forecast has 3 cloudy days that should harden them off as far as sunlight is concerned.

Floor is tidy and mostly weed free. Today I got 2 beds broadforked and raked. Ready to plant. Soil temp is already 50 degrees. Hoping to do kale, spinach, radish and lettuce or maybe even peas for my spring crops. Summer is going to be okra and...🌱
Roses. In bouquets they look great but smell like *$$. I always thought they were overrated. Then I was introduced to heirloom and ungrafted roses.
The variety of rosemary that I have is called Arp. It's definitely an upright variety. Here's a picture of one I just brought in from the greenhouse to bring out of dormancy ahead of spring. I was potentially going to use it for a topiary.
First wee plant babies of the season. These are hollyhock and I'm starting them early to experiment with some of them. I'm doing as much of this year's seeding in soil blocks as I can. I also do still use plastic cell trays, but I'm hoping to not have to replace them as they age out. 🌱
My poor hen. Egg so big it will not fit into the egg cup and there's no way the lid will close on the carton. Weighed in at 108 g which is more than double the size of a large egg. I feel like I need to take her something as a goodie cuz damn that was some work!
Saving the blooms that I could before the eminent freeze. Hopefully I've cataloged them better than I did last year. I had 85 ft of dahlias. Hopefully I can double that with division.🌱 #spokanegardener #gardensky
We are slated to get a freeze sometime this weekend. Managed to get one 90 ft row of cherry tomatoes and half of the pepper row. 2morrow I'll harvest chilies, eggplants & 2 other rows of tomatoes. I probably still have 500 lbs of tomatoes to pick. Running out of time...and space #spokanegardener 🌱
