I’ve spent the last 4-5 years replacing my lawn with native plants. This evening I watched two monarch butterflies chase each other around the yard. Until today, I’d only seen one so this was a first. Such a treat. Pic from last year.

My four young adult children work but aren’t in financial positions to afford a home in their own neighborhood. Making more types of housing available means that multiple generations can live in close proximity to each other. Instead, current zoning encourages the development of McMansions.
I’m one of many residents who have lived in the community for several decades and have seen my home’s value triple. That’s great until you consider how many people are now priced out. Also, when I retire, who’s going to buy my home?
