It is my belief that many devs right now are not maximizing what they can do with automatic programming because they still look at the code. Doing it makes you the bottleneck. Your time is better invested in new ideas, QA, design, and asking yourself what is your goal.

A common theme I see coming up (in, among other places, some of Adrian Lambert's work on systems collapse: I don't know how much I agree with the gestalt of his argument, but still, there's good stuff in there) is that as systems degrade, the more forward-thinking people involved in a system tend to reorient towards preserving skills that might not be useful in the current situation, but that will likely be of considerable value when things finally do break. Lambert writes more in the context of society in general, but it's worth specifically thinking about tech and what will be required should the current period of exuberance properly sink here. In that case, skills like Linux systems administration, basic networking, the ability to write and host websites using basic technologies (HTML, CSS, maybe a little JavaScript, PostgreSQL), a strong understanding of low level languages such as C and this whole family of skills suddenly become quite important. Learning how to host something on the internet without some kind of managed service or Kubernetes, and ideally on a box in your office, might also be of great value.
