Review: Moon Deer by Yoann Kavege ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An absolutely stunning graphic novel whose largely silent work is matched by beautiful art and quick pacing. This has a huge twist that caught me totally by surprise. My only wish is that the end was a bit more justice. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Kiki and the New Magic by Eiko Kadono ⭐️⭐️ I'm not sure why this book was written? It was fine, enjoyable even, but it didn't really introduce a lot of newness into Kiki's world. I felt like I was reading a rewrite of the original story. #booksky 📚💙
Review: Flickerstate by F. A. Davidson ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A quite stunning YA debut whose biggest pitfall is the pacing. This story could have easily extended to two or three books. Such a unique magic system combined with an intriguing plot. 📚💙 #booksky

Review: The Disco at the End of the World ⭐️⭐️.5 I thought I would love this queer sci-fi dystopia. But I expected a fun resistance romp that emphasized disco culture. It kind of was that, but there was a lack of space and the tone was heavier than expected. Gloria was the highlight of the story. 💙📚
Review: Strange Cases by riotbones ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is an excellent graphic novel that blends crime procedurals with the supernatural. I wish that there story had a stronger throughline to tie it all together, but still thoroughly enjoyed reading it. 📚💙
Review: Outline by Michèle Fischels ⭐️⭐️.5 While I thought the synopsis was intriguing, the execution of this fell a bit flat for me. I was confused about the relationship dynamics and the plot. The art style felt a bit inconsistent. Overall, it needed more. #booksky 💙📚

Review: The Unicorn Hunters by Katherine Arden ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book started out very slow, but once the magical elements were introduced, I was slowly hooked. I wish the romance had been less central, but I still loved this fictional retelling of Anne of Brittany. #booksky 📚💙

3.5 ⭐️ Alison Saft can be a bit hit or miss for me. She creates such beautiful immersive worlds and does so much research for each book. However, that can sometimes bury the story in the details. Immortal Game is a love letter to chess, intended for those that also love it. #booksky 📚💙
