I’ve come to the conclusion that the ST failed in the opening crawl. The focus on Luke says that the movie is looking back not forward. And not having Luke found in the first hour shows how JJ couldn’t move beyond the original trilogy.

The answer is always turning out your base. I think on thing that made the loss so surprising is all the focus on other groups made me think the base was secure. The Harris campaign had secured the base and was doing outreach to run up the score. I was wrong.
