An action figure of John Constantine from like 2012, DC Signature series or something like that. It’s interesting to me that the owner thought it was a misstep for them not to give John a weapon of some sort with the figure to which I say “ahhh but then were we really paying attention reading Hellblazer”. I digress. He’s posed like he’s warding off something with an ornate cross, which was evidentially taken from the owner’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer figures, namely Giles’. Which is so funny to me, because they’re my favourite crossover ship. ANYWAY.

post a comic cover you love. Sorry I couldn’t pick just one. Old Hellblazer covers fuck. God, I should re-read my favourite runs of the old Vertigo comic.

The Devil You Know cover, featuring an extremely rough looking John. Big surprise, I know. He’s crouching on top of a dais in front of bloodstained and cracked stained glass. John is looking at the viewer, his eyes haunted. Babygirl hasn’t slept in days and it shows. In one hand is a bloodied dagger…perhaps a paint brush considering the context of the dais being covered in esoteric symbols and a small bucket of something red (blood? paint? I’m inclined to say paint cos John isn’t one for animal sacrifice. Not since the cat incident. Iykyk)

The fifth issue cover for the City of Demons mini series (it’s so fucking good and frankly outstanding primer on classic Hellblazer). Features John sitting on a barstool, side view, he’s drinking a pint and smoking. Art done by Sean Murphy, which is sharp and stylized. His John has always looked appealingly feral with vestiges of a punk aesthetic. A homage to John’s roots. The back ground is stark aside from a mostly nude woman wearing a pair of black underwear and her arm is positioned to cover her breasts. Her skin is a sickly shade of greyish green and a large tentacle is strangling her. A line of blood is running between her breasts. There are some other little details. Honestly it’s all very referential to the story and I honestly don’t feel like trying to concisely go into it to provide context. It would be no easy task and spoil a lot (seriously. Go read this).

A rather busy Tim Bradstreet cover for an issue called Black Flowers. It’s divided into three major sections with John in the center holding up a tarot card with himself portrayed as the Devil in the style of a minor arcana face card. Behind him in woman in jeans, a black crop top, and black leather jacket. Her face is bowed and in total shadow with brown hair curtaining it. The bottom half of the cover is a grinning skull with a 3 printed on one tooth. I’ve always been conflicted by his covers because Tim’s art style is so striking, but his Hellblazer covers can be so obtuse.

The cover for issue 230. A scruffy looking John is exhaling a smoke ring in the shape of a pentagram. Art by Leonardo Manco, who is by far probably my favourite Hellblazer artist, barely second to only Sean Murphy. Manco shows such range and is both adept at portraying a grimy train wreck of a man, but also under his hand he has never been more handsome in later issues in this particular run with Andy Diggle as writer.

First picture I look of Loomi after he was brought home to stay (he had a meet and greet some time before so we could see how Hank coped).

Loomi, when he was still a wee kitten. Well…not really. He was never smol, at least while he’s been with me (I got him at around 5 mos). Loomi is looking at me from underneath a pillow he had wedged himself under. No worries, we bonded pretty quickly.

For the curious, I’m uploading videos from my phone to Google Drive and you know how Apple products have always been about copying things from your device elsewhere. Anyway, it’s not been a simple task, and this is a record of the last batch I tried to upload cut off at two and I needed to figure out which had been uploaded and which hadn’t been by cross-referencing the number in recent uploads.
