That was because they had affixed so many ceiling-mounted surveillance cameras to the drop ceiling of the lab that the panels routinely buckled beneath the weight and came crashing to the ground. I marveled at the number of obsidian half-domes mounted overhead. I couldn’t marvel for too long, though, because advanced cameras would alert a store’s loss-prevention staff if someone was seen lingering in an aisle or mulling items in a criminal-y manner. Some of these, A.I.-enabled, would even quote you how much potential revenue a customer was worth walking through the door.

Just checked the distance to zoned schools and…wow. Down in our part of Union County, the middle and high schoolers can spend upwards of an hour and a half on the bus. Well done, Big Meck!👏👏👏

As a secular, progressive homeschooler I’ve been hearing about the Homeschool Legal Defense Association for years now. They sound like a bunch of lunatics. States should mandate *all* of these things, and a parent that balks is prioritizing something other than their child.😤

There are no curriculum mandates, no home inspections, and no academic reporting. It is a small measure to prevent abusive parents from pretending to homeschool in order to keep their kids from public view and to give legislators an idea of how many children receive home education. This is the “tyranny” currently animating a national outrage cycle.

I would extend this beyond partnerships. As a Gen-X child with one Silent Gen parent and one Boomer parent, I think whatever propaganda they swallowed during their formative years about being “independent” is harming them now that they need caregivers.

In the longer term, or as a consistent approach, being over-reliant in relationships - having unrealistic expectations of a partner, and feeling entangled with them at the expense of your own identity - is unhealthy, Tawwab says.
But widespread resistance to being needy or dependent on a relationship is stoked by a culture that vaunts independence and autonomy, often to a disingenuous degree, she says.

Costanzo admits feeling a bit taken aback by the speed of Trump's actions in office so far and says that the administration's move to cut some federal spending to universities has given her pause. This is NOT one of the ten thousand reasons I homeschool (not that kind of homeschool), but I’m putting it at the very top of the list as of today. I’m not saying I would start punching and slapping administrators if this happened to one of my kids, but I might consider it for a hot second.🤬

I need to show this to my daughters (ages 19 and 16). I imagine I know what the 19-year-old will say. She’s a Psych major on her way to law school. She has Opinions. The 16-year-old is more cautious, but even she will probably read this as men thinking companionship is a transaction.🤔

This is the stuff that drives me nuts. It’s why most Americans don’t seem to understand what pregnancy actually is. Baby’s just grow! It’s simply science! It’s not. Pregnancy is basically a 40-week war where a placenta tries to steal as much as it can from one body to build a new one.🤬

I’m just popping in to refute her claim here. As a mother of four ranging from 19 to 9, I’d call 911. It’s exactly what every figure of authority in my life has told me to do if I think I’m in danger. It’s also what I would tell my kids to do. These people really think police are useless.😳

Yeah, the article gets into that a bit, but I’m not sure how much I’d hold this attitude against people. There were a few economists early on that held out hope Trump would be an anti-monopoly president. Having hopes where Trump is concerned is a little nutty, but some people are optimists.

I keep circling back to what everyone knew but refused to discuss before the crash in ‘08. I presume Mike Johnson reads (and maybe even hears from) economists. Republicans don’t want to get caught overseeing another economic collapse, but I don’t see how they keep this up for another three years.

Text: Then the story broke that Platner had posted some questionable things on Reddit starting in 2012, including that he wondered why Black people didn’t tip well, he thought white rural folks are racist, and then comments on violence and sexual assault in the military, amongst others.

Suddenly, the golden boy was revealed to be another white guy, and the gnashing of teeth started: “Are we being hustled by a media-savvy white dude who is another Fetterman or is he just a garden-variety white man asshole?”

Or was this just a snapshot in time of a guy blowing off steam online?

Truthfully, we don’t know. I spoke to someone this week who is friends with him who said they truly don’t believe him to be a racist or sexist prick, but that still doesn’t excuse what he said. I agree.
