Good Grief
@ignominious
If you think “hearing from all sides” is a useful way to spend your time, you may have too much time on your hands. Give me sound logic or talk to someone else. My time is too valuable for nonsense. Apologies in advance. I don’t read or repost Substack.
Ye gods how is this making me laugh and my skin absolutely fucking *crawl* at the same time???
Just checked the distance to zoned schools and…wow. Down in our part of Union County, the middle and high schoolers can spend upwards of an hour and a half on the bus. Well done, Big Meck!👏👏👏
As a secular, progressive homeschooler I’ve been hearing about the Homeschool Legal Defense Association for years now. They sound like a bunch of lunatics. States should mandate *all* of these things, and a parent that balks is prioritizing something other than their child.😤
Okay, I finally made myself look this guy up on Wikipedia, and this bio is wild. Reading it over again, there isn’t any one thing about it that is particularly crazy. Maybe I think I might be *really* unmoored if this was my formative experience.🤔
That’s why I dropped my subscription to The Atlantic and bought your book instead. It’s almost like reading The Atlantic if you wrote every single piece! It’s going great so far—if you consider wanting to rage clean everything after listening for five minutes “going great”!😂
This is like eating dessert before dinner. Thank you thank you thank you.🥳
I would extend this beyond partnerships. As a Gen-X child with one Silent Gen parent and one Boomer parent, I think whatever propaganda they swallowed during their formative years about being “independent” is harming them now that they need caregivers.
I was *incredibly* naive in college, but even I wasn’t this whacky. I have to legit wonder if this girl has ever seen a movie or read a book.😳
This is NOT one of the ten thousand reasons I homeschool (not that kind of homeschool), but I’m putting it at the very top of the list as of today. I’m not saying I would start punching and slapping administrators if this happened to one of my kids, but I might consider it for a hot second.🤬
I understand why Addie walked out. What I *don’t* understand is why she walked in.
I need to show this to my daughters (ages 19 and 16). I imagine I know what the 19-year-old will say. She’s a Psych major on her way to law school. She has Opinions. The 16-year-old is more cautious, but even she will probably read this as men thinking companionship is a transaction.🤔
This is the stuff that drives me nuts. It’s why most Americans don’t seem to understand what pregnancy actually is. Baby’s just grow! It’s simply science! It’s not. Pregnancy is basically a 40-week war where a placenta tries to steal as much as it can from one body to build a new one.🤬
Dude lies about reading the Wealth of Nations and then has the unmitigated gall to passive agressively warn us we should all stop lying. ***inserts endless eye rolling emojis***
I’m happy for Charlotte, but sad for Waxhaw. I was hoping people here would reject walls.😢
I’m just popping in to refute her claim here. As a mother of four ranging from 19 to 9, I’d call 911. It’s exactly what every figure of authority in my life has told me to do if I think I’m in danger. It’s also what I would tell my kids to do. These people really think police are useless.😳
Yeah, the article gets into that a bit, but I’m not sure how much I’d hold this attitude against people. There were a few economists early on that held out hope Trump would be an anti-monopoly president. Having hopes where Trump is concerned is a little nutty, but some people are optimists.
Ummm…on what evidence are you basing your hopes, Mr. Gates? I mean, hope doesn’t pay for innovation. Either he’s blowing smoke up everyone’s skirts, or he’s not operating in reality. Given that the latter is ultimately a money-losing strategy, I’m gonna go with the former.😒
I keep circling back to what everyone knew but refused to discuss before the crash in ‘08. I presume Mike Johnson reads (and maybe even hears from) economists. Republicans don’t want to get caught overseeing another economic collapse, but I don’t see how they keep this up for another three years.
That’s a bit of an oversimplification, isn’t it? www.politifact.com/factchecks/2...
The conversation happening in Maine makes me feel a bit unmoored. Dude typed out the R-word *in 2021*, proofed what he typed, thought it was great, and hit Send. Not saying ban the guy from politics, but reward him with a Senate seat??? Or is this normal now??? blackgirlinmaine.com/current-even...
$2 says this woman is staunchly anti-abortion and doesn’t believe pregnancy is dangerous.🙄 If people are this stupid, health insurers may need to cut and run. It also might be time for states/corporations to start requiring public health records at borders/events to protect interstate commerce.
What’s a “mega embassy”, she innocently asks. ***clicks through*** Holy hot buttered biscuits😳😳😳
