Can you confirm if the boundary line used for Chicago city limits is ignoring the connection on this dedicated bicycle path that is located within Chicago? For the screenshot it looks like the boundary is not right.

@peopleforbikes.bsky.social I have two questions if BNA is correctly calculating Chicago's score. Is the BNA for Chicago calculated at 1.67 miles from each Census Block? or is there a bug that is causing the result for the entire area of Chicago? Manhattan BNA shows a clear circle vs Chi it's not.

Defective sidewalks are a huge problem, and CDOT is struggling to address the issue. I opened a 311 service request for Sidewalk Inspection in 2022, 2024, and 2025 the Alder’s office did. All were “closed” “Shared Cost Sidewalk Candidate for next year’s program & Menu Candidate Sidewalk".

I definitely have my concerns, as the 2024 LSLR numbers were not quite half of the goal. I’m hoping the city’s ramp up of annual replacement reaches where it needs to be, especially with the funding coming in.

Look like @michaelmcc.com image file size is still an issue, and you still have to downsize the image manually on iOS. But, at least the error message now actually explains the issue, and you can actually click Ok to go back and remove the photo.

Good news, it looks like the city got the iOS app fixed. If the 311 service request has details or comments they now appear in the app. #CHI311

What’s your sign?

A sign located on North Ave in Oak Park Illinois, SIGN WAS ERECTED BY THE ROTARY CLUB OF OAK PARK, 1999. CONTINENTAL DIVIDE

You are standing on a Continental Divide. Water falling on this line separates and runs to the west and to the east. To the west the water flows to the Des Plaines River in River Forest, on to the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers and to the Gulf of Mexico. To the east, historically, the flow was to the Chicago River, to Lake Michigan, through the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. With the reversal of the flow of the Chicago River in 1900, all water now flows to the Gulf of Mexico.
East of this line is a ridge which is the beach of ancient Lake Chicago. The high, dry ground formed by this ridge encouraged early settlement in Oak Park in 1837.
Along the entire length of the Continental Divide, only one point, just five miles south of Oak Park, offered the possibility of easy connection from the Great Lakes to the western rivers. This point provided a link between the two navigation systems and was the location of three important waterways - the French Voyageur route over the Chicago Portage discovered in 1673, the Illinois and Michigan Canal completed in 1848 and the Sanitary and Ship Canal completed in 1900.
