Zaftig GenX atheist feminazgul with no fucks left to give. Of historic interest, here's a link to the US' "Field Guide to Simple Sabotage":
I wonder if we could start convincing these hypermacho right-wing authoritarian guys that having sex with women is gay so they should just start fucking each other instead.
And here's the seismograph generated by the event (known as the 'Beast Quake', after Lynch's 'Beast Mode' style of play. Those collections of black ink show intense activity from fan response to Lynch's run. So it isn't just natural events that can generate seismic shaking. Human events can too.
A bunch of years ago, when the discussion to legalize same-sex marriage in the US was heating up (but well before it became reality nationwide), I put together an infographic on the subject. Here's the infographic.
If that's hard to grasp, here's an illustration. It's from a French periodical of the time. I don't know the author or paper credit, so if someone does please let me know.
Right, sooooo the 1918 Influenza Epidemic likely began in an overcrowded UK military staging camp in France in 1916. There's good evidence that the virus responsible for the pandemic had actually been around for some years, it just didn't reach critical mass until 1918.
Good lord, JD Vance is SUCH a fucking embarrassment. Who in their right mind thinks they can lecture *the POPE* on Catholic theology? Headline from the NYT today.
Here's the crew of Apollo 11 when they did their walkout. (Photo credit: the Associated Press). Neil Armstrong is in the lead, waving; behind him is Michael Collins, & Buzz Aldrin in the rear.
Is this real? I really want this to be real. Can someone in London (or elsewhere in the UK) confirm this is real? 🤣🤣🤣
I found this image floating around in my files. Might be of interest. Y'know, as a historical thing. For folks interested in political history.
Sooo today this pulled into one of the ports near my hometown. It's a bunch of shipping containers arranged to spell the word "Renee".
Sent to me by BFF today. Tickled my nerd bone, sure; but the meat is in the comments underneath: you can't "go about your business" when there's a need to protest, because NPCs aren't heroes.
Gillam, B. (1883). Protectors of our Industries (The Puck, Ed.) [Review of Protectors of our Industries]. courses.bowdoin.edu/history-2203... A political cartoon published in 1883. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
There's a lady who's sure All that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to Heaven When she gets there, she knows If the stores are all closed With a word, she can get what she came for Oo-oo-ooooh, ooooooh oo-oohoo, And she's buying a stairway to Heaven
I'd really love to be able to say that widespread misogyny is "not all men", but yeah fuck that, it might as well be. See the attached graphic for how it really is.
Gary Larson captured this phenomenon back in the 1980s with this cartoon. I've used "my brain is full" ever since, whenever I've reached a mental limit of what I can focus on & my brain is just DONE.
I mean, it's not like they give a shit about beauty, history, the value of symbolic institutions, or letting trivial little things like *the Law* get in their way. They just do whatever the fuck they want, & nobody stops them. Permits? They don't need no stinking *permits*.
Surprise, surprise: I've been poking around in said database looking for a permit for the demo of the WH East Wing, to no avail. Here's a screenshot. The last batch of permitting paperwork appearing in the database is from Sept. 2024, for the building of media platforms for the POTUS inauguration.
I don't even know who this dude is (since I'm not up on my anime these days) but I'm digging his energy.
This is a statue of the explorer, William Clark (of Lewis & Clark fame). It stands near the beach in Long Beach, WA. Clark apparently made it all the way to what is now Long Beach. When he got there, he saw a big old dead sturgeon on the beach and was apparently really impressed. Hence the statue.
That owl looks like he's seen some shit. These two always crack me up:
I absolutely love it; the whole thing is full of absurdity. It always makes me wonder what the hell the inside of Bosch's mind was like, because holy shit it took some kind of wild imagination to come up with some of the imagery in it. I mean, just look at this weirdness right here:
Here's a picture of protestors shielding themselves from tear gas canisters using umbrellas. (Photo credit Dale De La Ray, AFP, 2019.) This wouldn't work for situations where an LEO gets right up in your face with mace or pepper spray, unfortunately. But for other crowd control tactics, it helps.
Here it is. Every item protestors wore or carried had a purpose: keeping them as safe as possible, so they could keep protesting as long as possible. (I don't know who made this graphic but if anybody does, LMK.)
HOLY SHIT but dat ass tho'. This guy is never gonna be able to do stakeout or tailing work with them cheeks clappin'.
Ok I gotta be honest, Talos the giant bronze guy always freaked me the hell out. The moment when he first moves his head is like - oh FUCK no. YEAH HERCULES YOU REALLY FUCKED IT UP NOW
