getting this delightful "glitch" that happens due to the rounded transistor saturation characteristic; subtracting a rounded square from a sharp sawtooth leaves an extra pulse, which susceptible to the same glitch, compounding it. if i refine this enough to use for pitch CV that'll have to go, maybe
it's actually a waveshaper that doubles the frequency of a sawtooth wave by subtracting its corresponding square wave this started with me trying to design the crudest possible way i can quantize a CV: using a single transistor inverting buffer instead of a comparator is definitely "crude"

MacRae footnotes the line as "translation uncertain", at least. his parallel version, which was the first published english translation, has a page break exactly where Layton put a lacuna. surely Layton didn't lacuna a page break. surely
for some unknown reason, Layton renders it with a lacuna as "It is I who prepare the bread and <. . .> <. . .> my intellect . . ." but I see no lacuna here
