What would you say to help convince a contractor to NOT tear down this beautiful oak tree on a tiny lot so it wouldn't "fall onto the new house" he intends to build next to it? The tree survived derecho winds approaching 140 mph nearly six years ago -- unscathed and as strong as ever.

In honor of my wife Jill, who passed on after a long struggle with polycystic kidney disease on Feb. 17, I will plant many perennial flowers and do something subversive every day. I'll remember her with love and inspiration to give back to the community.
