Kitten central (AKA Remi’s room/the guest room) is set up. About ten minutes later Fig darted out of there with that mouse in her mouth and took it into my office. She has NEVER been interested in those tiny mice (Fable loves them) but apparently she likes that one.
Uhhhh change of plans, going to get kittens tomorrow. As long as they’re still available (they were as of 15 minutes before they closed today), it’ll probably be Pandi and the void from pic 2. Will see what others they have just in case, but those are the ones I have my eye on now.
I made the mistake of looking to see if any new kittens have been added to the shelter’s website and there HAVE and one of them is very cute and I have my fingers crossed she is still available on Sunday because OMG THAT *FACE*
Curiosity got the better of me and I had to try it. I have regrets. 0/100 do not recommend.
Saved my bucket from when I got the lemonade a couple weeks ago at the FoodeeFest and made my own. Juice and pulp from two lemons, some diced strawberries, and just a tiiiiny bit of sugar (maybe half a tablespoon?) just to take the edge off. Perfectly sour. Yum!
Pixel was trazadone’d a few hours ago, got her happy hoodie on about half an hour ago and has gone sploot. Kitties are watching a nature YouTube video, Fig casually from my lap and Fable intensely from Pixel’s bed. They’re as ready as they’re gonna be for the inevitable neighborhood firworks.
I got some kolaches from American Kolache today and… um… this raspberry cream cheese one is quite… vulgar.
The moment I put it on her, she immediately leaned against the cabinets like she no longer had any idea how to stay upright, kind of like a cat wearing a leash for the first time.
I bought Pixel a happy hoodie to see if it will help with her anxiety during storms/fireworks. Tried it on her today. I don’t think she’s pleased. Peep the scorching side-eye at the end of the video.
I got these three sodas when I went to the Asian market last Friday and I was excited to try them but I am disappointed to report they all taste pretty much exactly the same: just overwhelming fake-sugar sweetness. Very little fruit flavor.
Supper: cheese-crusted chicken quesadilla with copycat QDOBA sweet/spicy Cholula sauce and citrus lime vinaigrette.
Food truck/vendor fest while I’m in Springfield = al pastor tacos and a half-sweet, extra lemon (because I like my lemonade SOUR, not sweet) mango lemonade for lunch. Yum. Two problems with food trucks: 1) $$$ 2) my options were about half of the offerings bc AI menu = not getting my business.
Also decided to finally check out The Lumpia House because no one ever wants to go with me. Got the loaded lumpia and the chicken pastil fusion subwich (no cilantro). Both very yum.
Was bored today so decided to go check out the Illinois State Museum in Springfield. Free admission and they’ve got a promo going on now that you get a voucher for a free weekday admission to the state fair in August. Not a bad way to spend an hour.
Both Fable and the squirrel are talking but I’m pretty sure neither can actually see the other.
Please enjoy this very silly pic of my mom’s cat, Purrl, enjoying an ice cream snack. (She only got a few licks.)
Local bar and grill called Lumpy’s posted this AI slop poster today. Zoom in on the building sign.
We don't usually see each other's headers. Here's mine. Quote-skeet with yours (if you feel like it)
Found an expandable tiered stacker that works perfectly. I am not allowed to buy any more spices. (I say that after buying like four more since the last picture was taken, but in my defense they were cheap and sounded yummy.)
The bounty (15 pints of black raspberries - NOT blackberries) that was the entire reason for our trip down here has been acquired. I’m already stained because I couldn’t resist eating a few that were still warm from being on the vine, which has always been my favorite way to eat them.
Mom and I tried a new-to-us restaurant (Ray’s Soul Food & Turkey Legs in O’Fallon) today and their sign is quite accurate. SO GOOD. We’ll definitely be coming back here.
I have rearranged these three shelves (which I expanded from two by moving some other stuff around) at least half a dozen times and I’m still not loving it. None of the organizing shelves I have in the house are quite the right height for what I want. (1/2)
No one can ever accuse me of not seasoning my food. Today’s project is reorganizing my spice cabinet because it had turned into chaos. First step was getting them all out. The actual organizing will have to wait until after work.
@clairewillett.bsky.social Dunno if this is something you’re interested in having/saving/repurposing/whatevs, but someone’s FB share of one of your old Twitter threads about COINTELPRO came up in my FB memories today. www.facebook.com/share/1G9uKk...
