But for unimpressive waterfalls, last week I drove an hour into the Picos de Europa mountains to see the highest waterfall in Northern Spain, and it was… entirely dry. So it was just a slightly darker section of cliff.
First Night of the Proms - it’s wonderful to be back after a year off last summer. So many people to catch up with, so much great music. Including Wonderwall, and for the first time I’m sad that the men’s football team are out of their World Cup.
Hi! I would like advice! I use alt text for all my images here, but I’ve stopped posting the regular cricket infographics I produce because I can’t work out how to add alt text that is useful and doesn’t take forever to create. Do you have any tips? Example attached.
I’ve still never been to Arundel when there was a game on, I really must. This was Abinger Hammer last summer when we went for a paddle during a heatwave.
Quote from Among Others by Jo Walton, which I borrowed on an interlibrary loan because it was recommended on two different lists and so far I can see why.
Made it to Beckenham! Aaaand water got under the covers so there’s an inspection at 12. Anyone know anything else fun to do round here? #KentvDurham #countychampionship
Would doesn’t want to spend the afternoon agonising over what their favourite butterfly is?
Weather forecast for the sixth round of County Championship games. It's going to be wet, cold, and probably all draws. You'd have to be mad to go and watch cricket. Yes, I am planning to go and watch cricket. #countycricket #cricketweather #weatherforecast
@martycricket.bsky.social Morning, I am recovering from my hike yesterday. Hoping I won’t be too stiff to play in the first game of the women’s cricket season this afternoon. Sorry I missed a lot of yesterday’s coverage!
The weather forecast for this round of county championship matches. @martycricket.bsky.social
@melindafarrell.bsky.social UK magpies make a very short, unmusical squawk. I hear them a lot in nesting season because they follow my cat around and shout at him - it’s a good way to find out which bush he’s asleep under.
Weather forecast for the fourth round of County Championship games. Very little rain and some sunshine and warmer temperatures! #countycricket #cricketweather #weatherforecast
@martycricket.bsky.social Talk of carrying a pig on a bike reminds me of one of my favourite sights from when I went to Madagascar (a few years ago now) - a man taking his goat for a cycle ride.
Made (by @jonlo88.bsky.social) and eaten (by me) in silence because I was trying to convince the 5yo I was still sitting outside her bedroom and not in the kitchen.
Ten years ago today I was watching Test cricket from a swimming pool on the boundary at Centurion.
The baby’s fascinated by the beach ball on the front of @ridiculousashes.bsky.social book - she’s been trying to pick it up for five minutes. @liebcricket.com @kingcricket.co.uk
I was interested that bad things mostly seem to have happened to cathedrals in the Middle Ages (presumably around when they were being built) and then in recent centuries, but not much in the early modern period. I graphed it out.
We’re all off to bed now - six hours till the Ashes start! See you there! What hashtag are we using so we can find each other, or is it just whoever’s awake at that time (cricket nuts and Aussies)?
