attempting to read an article on Literally The Encyclopedia Britannica is properly enshittified now, too

tried path of exile 2 for its free weekend... believe me when I say I've never exited and uninstalled a game so quickly in my life

imagine putting this on the product page for your new flagship phone and genuinely believing the AI-assisted images are better. they all look objectively worse! washed out! lifeless! (pls read the alt text i spent way too much time on it)

second image is a single orange flower in a vase on a table with a coffee cup; legs of a chair, perhaps a coat rack, and a door can be seen in the background. original image has intriguing light and shadow with clearly defined colors. in the AI-assisted version, brightness has once again been turned to 11 for no reason, the background has been blurred such that many details and much of the intriguing light/shadow interplay have been destroyed, the orange flower is now basically yellow (and also standing straight up instead of leaning slightly), and the coffee cup has changed shape slightly.

the third comparison is a picture of a sandwich on a live-edge wood serving board. the original image features a delicious-looking sandwich of many colors (green and purple leafy goodness, deep red tomatoes, a lovely pale cheese and some lightly pink-ish deli cuts, on a golden brown bread with perhaps asiago cheese cooked onto it). the AI-assisted image simply makes every aspect of this brighter and washed out. it honestly looks like a low-quality scan of the original image; no depth, lackluster colors
