Congressman Glenn Ivey (MD-04)
@ivey
Congressman proudly representing Maryland's Fourth Congressional District.
Maryland is home to some of our nation's largest federal agencies and thousands of hardworking public servants. They, and every American worker, deserve a wage that keeps up with the cost of living. Seventeen years is long enough. It's time to raise the federal minimum wage.
No one is above the law. If an ICE agent murders someone, they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law just like anyone else. No badge should shield anyone from accountability.
A big thank you to our incredible summer interns! I had a great time sitting down with them to hear about their experiences this summer and thank them for the important work they're doing on behalf of the people of Maryland's Fourth District.
House Republicans can find another $100 billion for war but not for families? They need to stop serving the president and start serving the American people. @dpcc.house.gov
It was great to join Reps. Hoyer and Ellzey at Fort Washington National Park to see firsthand the areas in need of restoration. With the right investment, we can preserve this historic landmark’s legacy while creating a more immersive place that brings its history to life for future generations.
The Trump administration painted itself into a corner and now the American people are paying the price. An illegal war. Rising gas prices. Contradictory messaging. No clear strategy. America deserves leadership grounded in law, credibility, and accountability.
Today marks 6 years since the passing of Congressman John Lewis, a towering figure of the Civil Rights Movement whose courage and unwavering commitment to justice changed our nation for the better.
🚨CODE PURPLE ALERT 🚨 Due to smoke from the Canadian wildfires, Maryland is under a Code Purple Air Quality Alert. At-risk populations if possible, should limit outdoor activity, keep windows closed, and monitor local air quality updates to help protect your health.
From mental health to food security to mentoring the next generation, I'm grateful for every opportunity to listen, learn, and lead. These conversations help shape the work we're doing to create stronger, healthier communities.
Todd Blanche is unfit to serve as the United States next Attorney General. I urge my Senate Colleagues to REJECT his nomination. ⬇️ this is why.
It was great joining local leaders and students at the Prince George's County Youth Town Hall this weekend. The next generation of leaders in Prince George's County is already making their voices heard, and our future is brighter because of it.
This Fourth of July, let’s celebrate how far we’ve come while recognizing the work still ahead. As the Trump administration works to roll back years of progress, it’s up to all of us to protect the freedoms and opportunities generations before us fought to secure. Happy Fourth of July. 🇺🇸
The fight to save BARC continues. PG County has joined the coalition fighting to protect this world class research institution. BARC supports jobs, food security, and groundbreaking research that can’t simply be moved elsewhere. We’ll keep fighting to keep BARC in Beltsville.
The people who keep Capitol Hill running deserve fair wages, good benefits, and a secure retirement. My colleagues and I were proud to stand with UNITE HERE Local 23 as they continue fighting for a fair contract for the workers who serve meals, maintain our buildings, and support Congress every day.
DOGE promised efficiency. Instead, they laid off thousands of dedicated public servants only to turn around and rehire many of them. That’s not rightsizing the federal workforce. That’s a “dynamic” waste of taxpayer dollars. @democrats-appropriations.house.gov
As we close out Immigrant Heritage Month, we celebrate the immigrants who make Maryland’s 4th District stronger every day. From entrepreneurs to health care workers and community leaders, their contributions help our communities thrive. I will always fight to protect their opportunity and dignity.
I am #PGProud to congratulate Chef Fernando Gonzalez and the entire 2fifty Texas BBQ team on being named RAMMY Restaurateur of the Year! Congratulations on this well deserved honor. Maryland’s 4th District is proud to call 2Fifty Texas BBQ one of our own.
The Trump Administration promised Americans lower costs. Instead, they’ve gotten higher prices, broken promises, and policies that put working families last. We need a Congress focused on lowering costs, protecting families, and delivering results for the American people. @thehill.com
Gun Violence Awareness Month reminds us that ending gun violence starts with bringing the right people to the table. I was proud to convene local leaders and community partners to discuss how we can better prevent violence, support victims, and strengthen our communities.
This Men’s Health Awareness Month, I encourage every man to make his health a priority. As a kidney cancer survivor, I know firsthand that an early screening can save your life. It caught my cancer before it was too late. Taking care of your health today could save your life tomorrow.
House Republicans found $70 billion for ICE and Homeland Security but couldn’t find $11 million to help keep kids on the right track. As a former prosecutor, I know early intervention saves lives. If we can prevent violence before it happens, why wouldn’t we? @democrats-appropriations.house.gov
Read my statement on the Supreme Court canceling TPS for Haitians and Syrians.
I enjoyed touring CAVA's manufacturing facility in Laurel and seeing the incredible work happening behind the scenes. As they continue expanding their footprint in Laurel, I'm excited to see the opportunities this investment will create for workers, families, and our local economy.
We can protect the Second Amendment right, and also protect second graders. No child should have to debate the best way to survive an active shooter at school. We don’t have to choose between constitutional rights and protecting our children. We can do both.
Four years ago today, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending nearly 50 years of federal protections for reproductive freedom. The consequences have been devastating. We cannot stop fighting for reproductive freedom and the right of every person to make their own health care decisions.
I was glad to spend part of my Juneteenth morning at MahoganyBooks meeting store owner Derrick Young and catching up with bestselling author Eddie S. Glaude Jr. to pick up a signed copy of A Native Son.
It was an honor to join so many friends and colleagues last week for the opening of the Obama Presidential Center. This Center will help inspire future generations to lead, serve, and strengthen their communities. (Jim Vondruska/Getty Images) (Alex WROBLEWSKI/AFP via Getty Images)

The American people deserve a government with independent oversight and real accountability. That’s why we need stronger Inspectors General, independent institutions, and protections that ensure the rule of law applies to everyone. @housedemocrats.bsky.social @democrats-appropriations.house.gov
