Out here doing my bit for the tan despite knowing my pasty Irish skin allows nothing more than freckles
This weeks #LetterboxdFriday is a reminder that how much I enjoy a film and how highly I rate it are not necessarily the same thing
There are very few things that make a Tuesday tolerable, but this is definitely one of them! All I can really think is how lucky I am to have built a life somewhere that genuinely feels like I belong 🥺
Nothing quite like getting back from a Saturday hike, ordering Chinese and taking an edible 😌
💭 This isn’t my typical genre of choice but I devoured every page of the story, would happily have read another 1000 pages! ⭐️ 4/5
It sure is, a friend very kindly brought it back from Japan and I’m obsessed with it! Def read the book - it’s wild
Read this if you were as obsessed with Cassie in Skins as I was! Murray narrates from inside the descent, so you feel the cults pull as it happens. This isn’t a “cult survivor” book so much as a study in how vulnerability gets exploited by those in power, at a large financial and personal cost.
York Pride yesterday had me in great form! The part of me that grew up on American telly still gets excited at the sight of a yellow school bus 😭
Happy #LetterboxdFriday - I’ve been on a winning streak with the last few movies I’ve seen!
I’m 6% into this 1000 page beast and I’m wondering why I didn’t read this sooner!? It’s the epitome of a good dark, gothic book 🖤
Sooo I disliked almost every character, yet could not put this book down and especially as you get towards the end. Very pointed in its discussion of conservatism, societal expectations of women, and more. ⭐️ 4.25/5
I don’t know how Donal Ryan writes how he does (complimentary) because I’ve read enough of his work to see the architecture and still not understand how he captures such raw and specific feelings. He might be one of my favourite authors, and I implore everyone to pick up one of his books asap!
Meta removed my story that expired SIXTEEN days ago just because it was pro-palestinian. Content moderators out there keeping us “safe” from something no one could see anyway.. good work lads 🤡
Difficult to call this an ‘enjoyable’ read given the subject matter, but O’Donnell captures coercive control with a precision that lays bare how systemic isolation leaves women more vulnerable than safe Ireland is simultaneously experiencing record homelessness which only deepens the books urgency
shaved the beard because i cut one side too high and now I’m left with a ronnie that idk what to do with.. polling is open
Took a long break after reading the first half, but finally finished this one! I could write a whole Substack of my thoughts, but this is 100% a book that reminds me why I love reading.
Just got my first ever hit of fresh skunk spray and I have so many questions, starting with why is my nose on fire!? Is this the Canadian dream?
First time playing TOTK and why did nobody tell me about this maraca shaking qt!?
🚨 breaking news 🚨 my neighbour has discovered and shared the solution to crime, war, sickness & economic hardship is God.
Never been so happy to smell spring in the air and see the squirrels quarrelling in the garden 🙂↕️
