It's been a breakneck year for me, with so many opportunities to write and advance my craft. A big part of that has been @ontarioarts.bsky.social - I'm so fortunate that this year, the OAC and @houseofanansi.bsky.social gave me a Recommender's Grant.
My partner @healthruwriting.bsky.social found something very girthy in the bag of chocolate chips I'd gotten for her.
It may not be February 14, but it will always be Valentine's Day in this writer's heart. ♥️ (Spotted in Kensington Market.)
A hybrid lyric essay I drafted was accepted for The Fiddlehead's 2026 disability issue! I'm thankful to Rowan McCandless, Nicole Breit, and @ontarioarts.bsky.social who made this possible. Shout out to my MPP @voteleefairclough.bsky.social and others in the Ontario government who support the OAC!
I've been so busy and thinking about the general state of the world that I haven't actually had a chance to post any of my writing wins lately… Today is the #BIPOCWritersConnect conference hosted by the Writers Union of Canada and the League of Canadian Poets - something I'm really excited for!
Had a chance to quickly hang out with @jamiequinn-m.bsky.social at the Toronto Aros and Aces makers market at the 519. Thanks so much to TA&A and the 519 for holding one of the best COVID safe community events I've been to in recent memory. This is how it's done! #COVIDIsNotOver
In my concerted effort to wrangle my posting away from being angry about the state of the world, I want to mention that I'll be at Glad Day Bookstore (the world's oldest LGBTQ2IA+ boookstore) reading some of my recent writing, to help celebrate their move to a new location!
I'm truly thankful to the @ontarioarts.bsky.social for giving me the opportunity this year to learn with both @nicolebreit.bsky.social and @rowanmcc1.bsky.social, through an OAC grant under the Skills and Career Development - Indigenous Arts Professionals and Arts Professionals of Colour program.
Spreading the word about disability justice and accessibility (in the rain) with Students for Barrier-Free Access at the University of Toronto. Come check us out at the UTSU Clubs Fair! linktr.ee/sbacommunications
I've been rather capacity-challenged the last few months, but I want to announce that I'll be giving a mini-talk on giving sensitive feedback on Aug. 16th, as part of the 2025 HippoCamp online CNF conference, presented by @hippocampusmag.bsky.social! Sign up here: tinyurl.com/ys694s6d
FYI for everyone out there having a safe and respectful Pride in Toronto: a sizeable number of anti-queer protestors have been apparently spotted on all corners at Church and Gould St. Be safe. Here's my Christian replies to those people, spotted during last year's Pride. Happy Pride Sunday!
The queer and ace/aro community isn't perfect, but for all of its challenges, it's a community I still choose to love. Thanks to fellow writer and poet @jamiequinn-m.bsky.social for inspiring me to keep choosing love!
Trans March will always be my favourite event of Pride Toronto. Where are the focus is the people in the community, not corporations. Where people young and old, parents, friends and lovers all celebrate their trans loved ones. #TransPride #TransRightsAreHumanRights
Wearing my ace pride socks to Toronto Trans March. Happy Pride everyone. Trans Liberation Now. #TransRights #TransLiberationNow
Spotted at the corner of Bloor and Havelock, in Toronto. RIP, David Lynch. We miss you.
