Today marks one year of the occupation of DC by federal forces, which has resulted in injury and trauma for DC residents, countless families separated by ICE, and the killing by federal law enforcement of Julian Bailey and Nolberto Meza, for which there has been no transparency or accountability...
Building a people-first DC starts with listening. Starting in September I’m coming to every ward to hear what’s working, what needs to change & what you want your government to do better. Bring the family & your ideas. Let’s get to work. There will be food, kids’ activities & translation services.
DoorDash claims to support DC’s autonomy… while actively undermining it. If you’ve already deleted your account and the app from your phone, then I hope you’ll join Free DC on August 7 and call on DoorDash to withdraw support from H.R. 9720. Oppose federal attacks on the people of DC.
I stand in solidarity with the nurses of MedStar Washington Hospital Center and urge MedStar leadership to immediately reverse its decision to close 11 postpartum beds. DC's mothers, babies, and families deserve greater investment, not fewer resources. My full statement:
Thank you @dcdemocrats.bsky.social and Monumental for hosting our 2026 Unity Breakfast. We have instructions for times like this, and they require us to come together. This moment demands that all of us be at the table to fight for the city we love.

It was great spending time with the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. I look forward to continuing our partnership to build a stronger, more affordable DC one project, one neighborhood, and one good-paying union job at a time.
Everything I am and everything I’ve been able to achieve has been because of my mom, Diane. She taught me to work hard, serve my community, listen, and to lift others up. Campaigning isn’t easy but she’s been there every step of the way and been a wonderful grandma to PJ. Happy birthday, Mom!
I’ll be walking in the Fourth of July parades in Capitol Hill and Palisades this Saturday and it would be great to see you! Capitol Hill: www.mobilize.us/janeesefordc... Palisades: www.mobilize.us/janeesefordc...
The Supreme Court decision is a devastating setback for our immigrant neighbors who have built their lives, careers, and communities here in Washington, DC, home to over 3,000 TPS holders.
DC has always been a city full of talent. Wale’s journey from DC kid to Grammy Award-winning artist is a reminder of what’s possible when talent and opportunity come together.
We celebrated Pride with Capital Stonewall Democrats to recognize our LGBTQ+ neighbors who help make this city the best in the world. At a moment when our politics can be divisive, we come together with a great sense of pride in being one DC. Happy Pride 💜🌈
Happy Juneteenth, DC. Fannie Lou Hamer said it plainly, “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.” Today is Juneteenth, a celebration marking the day the news of freedom finally reached enslaved people in Texas.
It’s time to work together, to roll up our sleeves and achieve a better DC. Whether you voted for me or not, I am fighting for you.
Thank you to all of DC who participated in this Democratic process. I look forward to serving the residents of DC💜
Today is Election Day, DC. Together, we will push our city into its future. Now let’s go win this. Polls close at 8 PM.
We’ve built the most diverse coalition in this city’s history around the simple idea that this city belongs to all of us.
Join us at the Howard Theatre at 8:30 PM on Election Night as we celebrate our people-first movement and the community that made it possible. For ticket information, visit go-janeesefordc.org/partydonate
Election Day is tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16th. Rank Janeese Lewis George #1 for Mayor. Polls will be open from 7am to 8pm. Visit dcboe.org to find an Election Day voting center near you.
Pastor Anika Wilson-Brown embodies that legacy of Union Temple. Over the years, she has been like a big sister to me. She’s encouraged me to lead with purpose and stay focused on how we serve others while living into our calling.
We asked our union workers why they support Janeese Lewis George for Mayor, and here’s what they had to say 💜.
Museum square is a reflection of the pressure on long term working class communities of color across DC. I met residents, witnessed the struggles and saw how they navigated the day to day experience of the building. Our residents deserve livable conditions.
Philip Pannell is the former Ward 8 Democrats President. He’s worked tirelessly to fight for Ward 8. I’m honored to be endorsed by him and look forward to continuing to work together to achieve a people-first DC across all eight wards.
Proud to have the endorsement of the national organization representing elected Democratic mayors and municipal leaders.
I am honored to have the endorsement of Ebony Payne, former Ward 7 Council candidate, and Kingman Park resident, who advocated, testified, and organized her community as I fought for good jobs, environmental protections, and anti-displacement provisions in the RFK deal.
Mt. Pleasant has always been one of my favorite DC neighborhoods. They prove to me everyday, that community is our biggest strength. It was a joy spending the afternoon in Ward 1 speaking with neighbors between Leon’s Shoe Repair, Nido’s Wine Shop, and Mt Pleasant Community Day at the plaza.
People are tired of hearing what the government can’t do. I’m ready to show them what the government can do. ✍🏾: Martin Austermuhle 📸: Kainaz Amaria www.notus.org/metro/janees...
It’s poetic that our primaries are at the same time as pride because pride was a resistance, rooted in joy, and love and happiness and inclusivity. And that’s what this campaign has been about. I’m so grateful to be supported by the Capital Stonewall Democrats @stonewalldems51.bsky.social.
