Loved this conversation with @josiecox.bsky.social about the economic and cultural dynamics transforming women’s sports. Plus: @thepersistent.bsky.social commissioned a watercolor! www.thepersistent.com/tag/women-yo...
Of all the terrible things in the Epstein files, seeing how men speak about women in professional settings is one. Yale Prof. David Gelernter recommended an undergrad to Epstein as “v small goodlooking blonde” and added a few other leering comments. He doesn’t see the problem. From the Yale News:
Dream team to see Unrivaled in Philly and these amazing women and my cup is full.
Episode 1 is up! Meet the 17 women who laid the foundation of the US women’s national soccer team. It’s a romp!! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/o...
Guys, Wednesday is going to be the first annual Dress Like You Perpetrated Or Will Solve the Louvre Heist Day. You know what to do.
The best night at the Seattle Reign honoring the LEGENDARY 85ers, the first US women’s soccer team. And 40 years to the day since their first international game vs Italy.
“The embodied performance of power.” This conversation with Tressie McMilan Cottom is getting to what bothered me about the cosmetically similar faces in powerful circles, and why a claim of empowerment is a really a return to submission. Just listen to Tressie: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
The fact that this story is being given the Page 6 treatment is unbelievable. The collective resources, the capriciousness of leadership, the policy repercussions nationally and abroad… and we get feuds and splitsville.
If you find this fascinating, please check out The Fast Track: Inside the Surging Business of Women’s Sports. I actually quote Goldin, because she has seen the dynamics play out wherever women are the majority workforce and written and spoken eloquently on it. I mean, Nobel.
The Fast Track made Scott Pioli’s summer reading list. Framing this one!
Aaaaawwww yes! Been waiting to get my hands on @sarahspain.com’s new book and now the moment has come!
I don’t know if C Span is on BlueSky yet but sharing this link to the program… www.c-span.org/program/qa/j...
JPmorgan announces they are partnering with A’ja Wilson at a CNBC event and she is looking immaculate as per usual.
Up tonight with Tina Cervasio on NY FOX5’s Sports Extra! Watch tonight at 10:30!
Day 5 on the road with The Fast Track. I’m meeting so many people whose stories could have been in the book. Thanks to Patty Raube Keller at Boston College for such a terrific conversation!
Very disappointed that @sarahspain.com and @shimmy33.bsky.social didn’t tell me and @mollyyanity.bsky.social about the dress code for the International Association for Communication and Sport keynote today.
Power of sport on display at NYU Women’s Sports Collective panel. Really appreciate Prof. Tajay Ashmeade on the power of sports to break exclusionary systems and why it matters with the World Cup and Olympics coming to North America.
So much good information at the NGO CWS Forum at the United Nations. The Women’s Sports Foundation is representing with these stats on leadership and sports: (and h/t Ellen Staurowsky of Ithaca College with the research)
