Loved this exhibition at @National Print Museum Dublin. With print ephemera from 1950s and 60s ‘Come Fly with Me: Aviation, tourism and Irish design’ is a rare insight into mid-century Irish graphic design.
Goodbye David Hockney. Looking into the wilderness with Jude In Belfast 2016.
Another Koningsdag in Amsterdam and yet another opportunity to visit the flea markets and wonder ‘why?’ The celebrations on Kings Day start with people selling their old stuff in the street. For one day street trading is legal. 🤷♀️ My money went to a teenage girl singing ‘Zij Gelooft In Mij’ 👑
Saw the waves at Lahinch yesterday. And in the evening, here’s the view from Liscannor under a full moon.
So proud of MA Design Cultures graduates @vuamsterdam.bsky.social who just launched #PlatformPudding for new design criticism (Eng & Dutch). 1st issue theme #proof inspired articles on de speculaasplank, copying in fashion, graphics in a post-truth era, the labubu as burnout symptom & much more 🧐
“The sun is burning in the sky Strands of clouds go slowly drifting by…” 🎶 View from my office @VU Amsterdam
So glad we got to commission this new book for the Palgrave series. Explores how #colonial exploitation of natural resources came to #fashion female bodies. Thanks to editors Audrey Murfin, Victoria Pettersen Lantz & Sibyl Buchell for a fascinating book on #materials #ecologies #specimens
Saw the Iris van Herpen exhibition at Kunsthal Rotterdam yesterday. Really busy but loved it. Inspiring, captivating creative work.
A new year is on the way. Thinking back on a tough year when i said a final goodbye to my father. Still an enigma. “And you, my father, there on the sad height… Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” Dylan Thomas
Visited Cathédrale Notre-Dame d'Amiens today - magical with the Christmas lights
On my way back from a busy week in London. Mostly for work but also met up with friends, revisited old haunts, and took in the festive atmosphere. And called into a few bookshops, including this one… #LRB
Busy day with MA Design Cultures students at #DutchDesignWeek in Eindhoven. Ended the day with United Cowboys a live art space with performances and installations.
Protesters formed a 250,000 strong #rodelijn around the Vondelpark today marching in solidarity with the Gazan people. Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Made a visit to V&A East. A depot full of designed things open to the public. A strange absence of narrative but maybe that’s the point. Think I’ll book in next time to see some objects up close.
