It's a good idea to take a break at that point, when instead of mindlessly adjusting the kick for an hour, it would have been enough to move this setting about 15 milliseconds to the right.
A trick for powerful EDM sound. Short gate for all else (instruments, fx) except for the kick. Some fully, some less, even vocals. The kick attack is preserved which makes its tone more pronounced. Relative levels stay the same but the kick dominates, and elements fall into place.
