something pretty from my chilly walk to work #photography #bloomscrolling
Madame Vastra and Jenny Flint. i really wanted the Paternoster Gang - Vastra, Jenny, and Strax ("the potato one") - to get their own multi-season spin-off show. i'd have watched the hell out of it.
hard first week of Term 3 with news that doesn't bode well for 2027. Pōneke being run into the ground by this rancid government has many flow-on effects and schools cop it via falling rolls and funding cuts. feel very stressed so trying to relax with some ginger tea and wild animal live cam. #nzpol
the stainless steel sculpture is called KIMI/You are Here. it's by Korean/🇳🇿 artist, Seung Yul Oh, and is installed at Waitangi Park. i'm enjoying photographing it from various viewpoints, and in different seasons, weather conditions and light. #photography #b&w
#3GoodThings - the longest term of the school year is finally over so my overstimulated brain can get some rest, quiet & solitude; - the days are getting longer and only 60 sleeps 'til spring; - started my first day of the holidays (don't work Fri) with a long, chilly, lovely waterfront walk. 📷
couple of flower pics from a recent sunny day walk. i can't give you any flower facts, i just take photos of those i like the colour and/or shape of. because they're lovely to look at, and the pics remind me of walks and sunny days and to look for the colour when everything feels gloomy. 📷 #flowers
great tools you've made, thank you! but yes, my numbers are depressingly high. and don't even factor in the costs of period-related GP visits, tranexamic acid, liquid iron, pain relief, etc. thankfully, the goddess of menopause has come for me so at least i don't have these costs anymore.
this is what it looks like when you start early, only stop for the one pregnancy (and it returned fast afterwards), and have short cycles (24 days) but with long bleeds (10 days). aside from all the period products, i also dealt with a lot of anaemia because i bled heavily. fun times! 😒
New Zealand says "fuck no!" although our trump-loving suck-up of a Prime Minister will no doubt ignore public opinion. again. #nzpol
it's so nice to bask in some sunshine after the horror rain week we've had in Pōneke. #photography
#3GoodThings - it's still the school holidays so i'm still soaking up some peace and solitude; - made the most of a sunny day and went for a walk along Oriental Parade then back through town; - leaning into my photography special interest and adding to my political/human rights slogan collection. 📷
i've lost track of which round we're up to in this stupid and exhausting game of Distraction. is it 'the war is a distraction from the Epstein files' or 'the Epstein files are a distraction from the war'? whose turn is it? when will it end?
#3GoodThings - got my free flu vax; - enjoying the solitude and peace of two weeks off work; - the moon stuff. all of it - milestones, the images, the tasks, even the numerous loo repair chats. it's just very awesome being able to listen in and watch as four humans travel around the fricken moon!
pretty fucking rude of the NZ Herald to put a Debt Awareness Week article behind a paywall. i guess us poors should be uninformed as well as embarrassed. #nzpol
feels like everything everywhere is fucken awful at the moment so trying to notice #3GoodThings to offset my despair and anger: - a meeting with my boss that i was anxious about went very well; - i remembered to apply for a renewal of my Community Services card before it expires; - i have chocolate.
i've been stressed and grumpy so went for a long, stompy, stupid mental health walk. covered 9km, looked at lots of stuff, touched some things, breathed in some air, and took loads of photos. happy to report i'm less grumpy and stompy now. pretty fricken tired tho' so time to ease into the weekend.
"Albatross" sculpture by Tanya Ashken, at Frank Kitts Park, Pōneke #photography #b&w 📷🇳🇿
#3GoodThings keeping me relatively sane in these insane times: - listening to music (and singing along); - reading books (and everything library related); - spending a lot of time in nature. 📷
what i would say to you is, i am not aware of what turns on Christopher Luxon, and i am committed to keeping it that way. #nzpol
this sculpture is called KIMI/You are Here, it's by Korean/🇳🇿 artist, Seung Yul Oh, and is installed at Waitangi Park. i'm having fun photographing it from various viewpoints on different days, in different weather conditions. this pic's from this morning's (stupid mental health) walk. #photography
finished work five days ago and haven’t spoken to another person since except for thanking the driver when i got off a bus yesterday. i love my job but the sensory overload is wild and masking is tiring so i’m happy to be away from it all for a while.
three weeks of Term 4 left and if the last couple of days are anything to go by, they'll be hell. everyone's exhausted, there's still so much to do, us TAs got another shit pay offer, my autistic brain's constantly overstimulated, and a lot of the student behaviour is chaotic, bordering on anarchic.
