Just discovered these on Instagram. The artist is Andrei Bodko. His work integrates traditional Eastern Orthodox iconography of Jesus with contemporary urban life. Lots of depictions of the mundane and downtrodden, as well as athleticism and masculinity. www.instagram.com/andrei_bodko...
Lots of discussion of academics/researchers responsibilities re. citations and bibliographies today. I just want to give a special shout-out to @koshersoul.bsky.social. Got to the end of Recipes from the American South, and, lo and behold, a bibliography! Far more recipe books should include them.
The flip side of this is always regretting that you didn’t reach out. Though not in a professorship role, Mary Sicilia was a department head and was the custodian when I was in my early twenties. I truly wish that reached out to her to tell her how influential she was in my thinking and pursuits.

I think that I can credit Duval’s performance in The Apostle (1997) as a pivotal moment in my evolving interest in religious studies. Raised Baptist, explored a little Orthodoxy, Buddhism, etc, The Apostle was maybe the 1st time I started thinking about religion as something other than just belief.
