Settling in to watch the bigfoot hunting show Mountain Monsters and promising not to say anything about their approach to gun safety (the man on the bottom has just said, "cover me")
"AUDIOBOOKS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE" Okay well they've slashed the price for 'No Giant Crabs' audiobook preorders through the 10th, for audible premium plus subscribers it's like twelve bucks for what some are calling the greatest novel ever written, probably www.amazon.com/There-Giant-...
There is a bitter debate over whether I am very good or very bad at book promotion but I do not think history will judge me kindly bit.ly/crabscrabscrabs
About once an episode house of the dragon dramatically holds on the face of a character and wrongly assumes I know who they are (with zero dialogue to remind me, it’s always just a silent “that’s right, it’s _____!” and then cuts away)
Calling the police to get them to make this guy stop doing this
REVIEWERS: The new book is now up on NetGalley. If you can't get it for some reason, message me and I'll get you one, I also have SOME physical copies but not many. Email the general inbox at inbox@jasonkpargin.com with the subject line ARC REQUEST so I can find it under the mountains of spam
It's ridiculous how fans complain that House of the Dragon takes so long between seasons. Uh, guys, you do realize that before they can shoot a new season the actors have to take time to grow out their hair, right?
An outsider observing our pop culture would immediately come to the conclusion that robot worship was the world’s most popular religion. But... why? jasonpargin.substack.com/p/everyone-i...
So far this is the most preordered book in the JDATE series, which may not sound like much of an accomplishment but please remember the context which is that nobody reads books anymore. If you want a SIGNED hardcover, you can only get one by preordering at bit.ly/signmycrab
Shocked to find out House of the Dragon comes back tomorrow, I can't remember seeing less talk/buzz/anticipation for a Game of Thrones thing. I only found out about it because of a banner ad
ADDRESSING THE CONTROVERSY RE: PREORDERS: As I have made clear, certain features of my upcoming novel, including most of the symbolism, themes and character arcs, are ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE PREORDER PLATINUM EDITION. The standard edition lacks those features and adds the Rizzler as a main character.
My favorite stupid history fact is that the Cerne Abbas Giant, the 1,000-year-old monument in England famous for its enormous dong, likely was wearing pants when it was originally carved and locals may have just added the boner in the 17th century as a prank. I'm not kidding!
This is the one time I feel like a film adaptation genuinely ruined the reputation of the book. The Brad Pitt film World War Z used the title and literally nothing else, the book is about something far more interesting. It basically predicted the response to COVID like 14 years in advance!
Something obvious that blows my mind is the fact that when westerns were dominating in early Hollywood, they were for audiences who *actually remembered the Old West.* Like in 1938 you could watch a movie about Billy the Kid sitting next to an old woman who had met him.
