每次颱風來襲近年最常聽見一種說法,都說中央山脈是臺灣抵擋颱風的「護國神山」, 甚至在AI時代還看到有人將颱風跟中央山脈擬作成人準備進行搏鬥,但最讓我在意的, 反而是在這兩位對手之間,那個地區、那群人究竟有沒有被護到呢?

最上面已列出近十年(2016年至今)颱風造成花東地區的災情狀況,可以發現基本上只要有颱風來襲,便有很大的機率造成東部原鄉地區嚴重的災情,當西部歡喜於因山脈阻隔而減緩風雨的颱風假時,花蓮、台東或是許多山區原鄉卻往往正面承受颱風帶來的強風豪雨造成的土石流、道路中斷、農損、停電與家園毀壞,當我們輕易把中央山脈稱為「護國神山」時,也等於把原住民族與東部居民的災難經驗排除在外,我們真正需要被看見的是山的另一邊,有多少人正在承受風雨,拜託不要再說什麼護國神山了。

★ 2016年尼伯特颱風重創台東太麻里,造成屋頂掀飛、鐵皮屋倒塌、路樹傾倒、停水停電與嚴重農損;

★ 2016年莫蘭蒂颱風帶來豪雨,延平紅葉村及大武鄉一帶也面臨山崩與土石威脅;

★ 2017年尼莎、海棠颱風接連影響花東,強風吹垮花蓮和平電廠輸電鐵塔,引發供電危機;

★2021年圓規颱風外圍環流使花蓮山區部落(瑞穗、玉里)撤離,並造成停電與交通受阻。

★ 2023年杜蘇芮颱風帶來豪雨,花蓮秀林、富里山區出現土石流、河川暴漲與道路坍方;

★ 2023年海葵颱風從台東登陸,造成花蓮卓溪、台東泰武強風災情、路樹傾倒、積淹水與多人受傷;

★ 2023年小犬颱風則重創蘭嶼,造成全鄉大規模停電、港口船隻受損、環島公路中斷與公共設施淹水;

★ 2024年凱米、康芮颱風接連影響花東, 花蓮秀林、卓溪發生嚴重土石流,影響道路,甚至造成斷水危機;

★2025年楊柳颱風登陸台東太麻里,造成東部交通停駛、溪水暴漲、農損與停電;

★ 2025年樺加沙颱風更導致花蓮馬太鞍溪堰塞湖溢流,洪水與泥流衝入光復鄉,造成重大傷亡、失聯與家園毀壞

1/2) Read article about pets eavesdropping on convos & was curious about our pup. Realizing most words/phrases he’s learned this way have to do w/food. Appears immediately when he hears, ‘Do you want..?’ also food he likes—banana, yogurt, tangerine, carrot when discussing shopping list, etc.

When we moved to our to Pingtung County, most of our village neighborhood was plots of land with gardens, trees and a few 三合院 with large green areas. Now, just a few years later all gone. Last remaining plot is currently under construction.

Been working very hard on ‘leave it,’ command so we could resume our walks around neighborhood—practicing at home & park in various circumstances. He starting maintaining perfect obedience/complete command reliability week ago, so had our first neighborhood walk yesterday & he was such a good boy! 🥰

Oh even better! I’ll ask K if any students were singing it this year & if he happens to knows it. Last year, he was assigned a new 國一 /Jr. High Year 1 class for homeroom. Just up for elementary school, they were singing it & he told my mother when she was told him about the Batman smells version.
