Every time I get an email from NSF like this I think about how many normal research grants will not be funded
I imagine these are easy for chemists with good 3-D spatial awareness but I’m just a simple analytical chemist who likes spreadsheets and equations. You should’ve seen the look on my spouse’s face. 🤣

Yesterday was a first — got to Zoom in for a former undergrad researcher’s PhD defense. He has been mapping PFAS across the state of Florida via crowdsourced water samples. Super cool! Congrats Dr. Thomas Sinkway 🎉

Our dog Hazel often goes to the front window and barks when we eat dinner “to protect us” with the hope that we give her some. Today, she acted like there was a mouse in our adjacent laundry room so I got up quickly from the table. She went straight to the table and stole my food. Clever girl.
