Today's art. Mind you, I'm not the best artist, but it's the thought that counts. Thought about Dolly Parton and Tim Curry, as we all feel sad for their passings to the other realm.
Today's art, as I mourn Dolly's passing to the next realm. Relaxing til tomorrow, when I go back to work in the parking lot.
This week has been a fun week, as I deal with the hazard of working in a parking lot. I nearly got ran over by someone with a much fancier car. My appointment with IHSS went well. Went to orientation yesterday. Now is the wait for my partner's IHSS paperwork.
Today's before work sketch. I'm off tomorrow, so that I can attend the IHSS orientation. At least I can sleep in. Looking forward to that.
Today's art. I'm hoping that, once I leave my latest survival job, that i could do more art.
Today is Black cat appreciation day, and Marleau is the closest that I have to a black cat. She, along with her sisters, Holly and Willow, are torties.
Today's 🎨. Did this at work, before the work week starts. I'm just working 2 days this week so that I can take my partner's birthday off.
Up too early, waiting for the coffee. I'm in the process of changing survival jobs once again. If it works out, I'll be providing IHSS services to my partner. Hopefully it will be enough hours so that I can leave the parking lot behind.
Today's art. I need to get back to doing art. Haven't had the energy. Also, I'm in the process of doing another survival job change, hoping that it will work out for the best. I'll be making less money, but I won't be out in the elements.
New reading material and some music to review, before I pick up my partner from his friend's place. Radio show in a few hours. One of our happy places.
Today I either survive or let go. Trying to work in the heat with the type of uniform that I wear is hard. Dealing with health conditions that causes me to get heat sick is hard. I'm trying to survive until I turn 65 in my survival job is hard. Trying to survive this government is hard. I'll try.
Do I get my hopes up, or let them fade away? I'm wondering about that, as I'm contemplating what this home assessment for my partner entails. If this comes through, then I may have an out from the current survival job. Or I'm still stuck working in the elements. Need to things on my end.
I was planning to go to work, but had second thoughts, especially with my health. I take a couple of medications that has an effect on me if I'm out in the heat for a long time. Today it's going to be 99 in San Jose. So I'm listening to my body and taking the day off. Self care is very important.
I did more work on the latest project, as I was helping my BF with his radio show. I congrated the radioland graduates as they graduated from SJSU. I love this break from the parking lot. I'll be working at a polling center for the next 2 weeks. Looking forward to that.
I'm at my BF'S, thinking about yesterday. I went to a retirement party for a professor that I had when I was a student at SJSU. I made a baby afgan for her child over 30 years ago. I also saw a former DJ who is forced to retire this month, due to changes. I would love to leave my job but can't.
Today's art, as I am reminded that what my mom would have said: it's very important to register and vote! We need to rise up and fight for our rights.
I haven't had the energy to do as much art as I would love. Today, my partner and I are at a coffee shop, hanging out as his house is being "refreshed" ie painting and replacing flooring. Stayed in his area, but will be in radioland shortly.
This weekend was a stay local. Was planning to be in attendance for last Saturday's Golden Gate Sacred Harp sing. But my partner is dealing with a refreshing project being done to his home. I couldn't make it yesterday due to a memorial service at my church and my alto voice was needed.
Did more stitchery yesterday, after dealing with really bad customer service at a Target in South San Jose. It's one thing to have things locked up, but having the employee walk away and having none in the electronics department is bad. Ended up ordering a new phone holder on line. Coming today.
Yesterday I finished one project and started another one last night while observing a future DJ doing their solo session.
Today's art. Thinking about Easter Sunday. I went to a Holy Saturday service and, even though I was tired over the fight with BF'S family, I needed to be with my church family.
Might as well enjoy this view. In three weeks, this will be removed and replaced by blinds. This will be very disrupted to my blind partner. This will be sad to me, since this is the last memories that I have with this couple who made this a home until they passed in the early 2020s.
WIP! this rose took me a while to do. I'm now working on the leaves.
Right now, I'm forced to take more money out of a 401k just to pay my tax bill. Small refund from one and paying more with the other. I'm trying to survive on what little I'm making for the next 5 years until Medicare kicks in.
Today's art. Started on St. Patrick's day and finished this morning. Inspired by a photo that I saw on social media.
Today's Friday and, hopefully, cooler weather will come this weekend. Working in 80+ weather is not fun, especially wearing a heat absorbing uniform. I had to find shade, take longer breaks and bring a gallon water jug with ice. Coworkers have been calling out due to the heat.
Woke up to a dream/nightmare of having ICE showing up to my home, arresting one of the workers working on my yard, then I took a picture of an ICE worker and she looked at me. I covered myself with a blanket. (1, story cont in comments sec.)
I took this at 0638 PST. Tomorrow, this sunrise will come after 0700 PDT. Not really looking forward to the lack of sleep, which will be happening for the next couple of weeks, as my body adjusts. My BF and I will be attending a memorial service for one of his friends. We're still here for now.
Finally finished this. The third cat, on the bottom, took me 4 days since I was busy with life. My partner's friend was in the hospital and now is in an acute care center. Not sure what my next project will be.
Latest project. The cat on the bottom Ieft was done on Superb Owl Sunday. The cat on the bottom right was done yesterday, as I was watching Heather Cox Richardson give her report on the Iran invasion, and did the rest as a distraction. I outlined the third cat last night. Time for the French knots.
