1. Half-term revision session yesterday for 60 A Level Maths students preparing for Paper 1. 2. Away today for the weekend to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary in a lovely little AirBnB in the Yorkshire countryside. (Don't worry, I've made sure I can get TNT Sports on the TV for tomorrow.)
This was the team for the semi-final second leg last season and very few options on the bench.

Not sure how different it is as I've only taught AQA, but they can be quite tough on "show that" and "fully justify" questions. Grade boundaries are really high so students have to be really thorough. Here are a few key bits on what we talk to our students about...
Created and shared 2-3 minute videos on the top 4, one a week in the run up to Y2 Mocks, then the 5th one after the mock as students were receiving feedback.
We weren't great, but the BBC are talking as if it was a masterclass from Southampton and we got thoroughly dominated... I appreciate that this doesn't change the result, but the inevitable head-loss is not warranted.
Sometimes I worry that I've set him up for a lifetime of heartache and disappointment, but today was definitely a good day! 🔴
Had a great final day of term yesterday with my #ALevelMaths students, as part of their lessons, they worked collaboratively on a particularly tricky integration by substitution question (Edexcel are on the naughty list for this one) on the big boards around the room. #MathsToday
Why is this "league table if only open play goals counted" suddenly a thing now? Where was this energy when Liverpool were grabbing 95th minutes winners? I didn't see a "league table with no added time goals"...
At this point, it feels like a social experiment to see how far they can push it...
In #MathsToday my students were put into groups and asked to complete some proofs using trigonometric identities. Really pleased to see students supporting each other and encouraging some of the quieter students to share their thoughts on the whiteboards. #ALevelMaths
