Did you 4-0 your prerelease? Do you have a severe case of "being a limited sicko"? Do you want empirical evidence that you are the greatest limited player of all time so you can mock your friends for 2-1ing single elim leagues?
Instants/Sorceries come in 2 flavors. Self replacement effects, like on Efflorescence (changing the effect of the spell if you have gained life on resolution), but ONE is a triggered ability that isn't an intervening if. It always triggers, and creates a copy if you gained life.
and then one creature is an intervening if triggered ability (when it could trigger, it first checks to see if you gained life before doing so. If you haven't the ability never goes on the stack at all.)
On creatures, Infusion can mean 3 different things. Regular triggered abilities, like on Old-Growth Educator (this always triggers and then does a thing if you gained life), static abilities like on Tenured Concoctor (the ability is always looking to see if you have gained life)
