A native Brown Belted Bumble Bee came to visit my garden today 🌼🐝

A tiered outdoor garden with lots of plants, focusing on some smaller yellow flowers called Star Tickseed (Coreopsis pubescens) and some taller purple coneflowers (Echinacea purpurea)

Had a nice little afternoon at the Missouri Botanical Garden

A hexagonal wooden structure with lots of little hollowed out sticks inside, in a bed of yarrow. In front there’s a sign that says: What Is This? This is our new "Air Bee'N'Bee" (aka insect hotel). The hollow tubes provide shelter and a safe nesting space for native bees and wasps. Most bee species are solitary and do not live in large colonies or produce honey. However, as pollinators, they are critical for the survival of our native plants and allow us to enjoy beautiful flowers and delicious fruits and vegetables in our garden!
