If it stays still I will sew it, knit it, or paint it. Just for starters. I am fighting with all I have to see democracy last a few more years here. In the PNW. I am Me, wife, mom, grandma. The older I get, the liberaler I be.
Yesterday we had two HUGE bottles of whisky misdelivered by Amazon Fresh. I guess someone was getting ahead of the tariffs. 😂 The sad part is they probably got our bottles of Gold Leaf Iced Tea instead. 😂😂
Here she is as Queen of the May at her high school graduation. She was a fun grandma. 😁
Went back and found my comment here from when I had just finished it.
Remember the Star Trek Next Generation episode where the ship is slowly disappearing piece by piece? That’s exactly what life feels like now.
I darned socks just this morning with this wooden wdarner which is at least a hundred years old. Our silverware is 108 years old. I’ve got a snuff box that is 259 years old. The botanical engravings on my wall are 413 years old. I’ve also got a Neolithic hand ax, but can’t say I use it *daily*. 😉
I turn 70 today, and my husband got me this tote bag. It is nice to be loved by someone who really knows you. 😉
Lighthouse was beautiful, btw. The most adorable lighthouse I’ve ever seen!
Could someone (preferably an insurance actuary) explain to me the risks involved with holding an ax-throwing contest in an over 55 retirement community? (Average age 70-75?) Asking for a friend. Wait, I’m actually asking for me. I’ll be hiding indoors that day 😬 🪓🪓🪓👵🏻🧓🏻👴🩸🩸🩸
Raise up your children so that when you give your grandaughter a necklace that reminds you of the bird from “The Strawberry Thief” fabric, your son says “Did you know William Morris spent 5 years perfecting the printing method for that red? It’s in his diary.” Raise nerdlets folks. They’re FUN! 🤩
Grout is still a bit darker because it is wet but it will dry to correct color. (Former owners left it) If I may say so, not bad for a 70 year old who has never laid a tile or installed grout before. Getting anybody to even drive by your house in Seattle is at least 500 dollars. 💸
Oh yup it’s the super duper $$ nothing can kill it silicone. I did the naked finger thing but had too much of a bead and it was a mess. Our handyman will do it but I thought ‘oh, I can’. 🤦♀️ I did get these fallen tiles cleaned off and back up pretty straight though. Now on to grouting. 💫
Is this the kind of thing you mean? My mom had this little orphan Annie decoder pin from the 1930’s. I know it’s here in the house somewhere but stock footage will have to do today. 😉
Wait til you see the Emerson! It is fondly called the Freight Train for the amount of noise it makes. It was originally bought in the 1920’s for my husband’s grandparent’s Arkansas home, pre air-conditioning. My husband remembers sleeping on an upstairs sleeping porch with it roaring away.
I STILL rinse out plastic bags. One Christmas I got a cool little wooden rack for drying them out.
I am 70. Early in our marriage we had a green GE fan from my parents. I remember taking it to an appliance repair shop, (cluttered workbench and all) where a knowledgeable gentleman fixed it , and if was good for another 20 years. Our best fan is a huge, heavy 1920’s Emerson from grandparents.
My family is 'different'- I played jacks for the first time in 65 years. My son was explaining what jacks were to my 11 y.o. granddaughter. "You know, *jacks*. Those things that look like caltrops and you use a red rubber ball to bounce and pick them up". Yes, caltrops she knew, but not jacks.🤷♀️😀
Gorgeous afghan knitted by a knitting group friend. “Flower Show” by Margaret Holzmann”
#sewing #handsewing #garmentfinishing Closure for a stand up collar. Pattern called for hooks and eyes but that sounded scratchy. My mom taught me this 60 years ago - shanked buttons (one lone antique button cufflink, disassembled) and loops crocheted from emb. floss. Lovely clean finish. 💛
Wait til they figure out they can sew and knit! Blouse underway for granddaughter. So excited to be at the hand sewing part so I can watch tv and hem. 😁
My kids had two grey tabbies that looked alike. Worked for them as long as they were never side by side. 😁
Or whichever cat at the cat cafe chooses you. 🐈⬛ My new grandvoid, who marched right up and claimed my granddaughter.
🍽️ # Tofu with cashews and bok choy. One of my first tries at tofu. 😃
