Former mayor of #HillsboroughNC, A better world is possible. Carolina Basketball, Fall, Get me outside. Can we get some buses, trains, and bike lanes up in here?
Suburb? SUBURB? Who do I need to fight at the N&O?! This better have been written by a robot! Grumble grumble.
Our family’s yard sign from the ‘84 primary. Thank you, and rest in power, Reverend.
Aging is reading Adam Lucas the day after a win and reading several time in the article that it’s been 23 years since we’ve beaten Kansas and getting to the below paragraph and thinking “that can’t be right, he’s said many times it’s been 23 yea….oh.” The math - ouch.
Stood in community today with 700 (easily) to 1000 (would believe) others at Hillsborough No Kings this morning. I carried a tiny but mighty sign. I love my town! 💖
@tressiemcphd.bsky.social I am weeping at the mirror situation in my hotel.
It is AntiFascist Struggle Day in Croatia commemorating the uprising of a guerrilla unit against Nazi Germany & Fascist Italy. Can’t claim to know more than that, but gives an American abroad a hell of a lot to think about today. No good will come from war w/Iran. Prayers for the people, everywhere.
Go Heels, and this balancing German chihuahua. Great win tonight.
Such good news to wake up to. Remaining hopeful that Governor Cooper will do something similar before he leaves office.
This is only about 2-3min of this year’s solstice lantern walk in #HillsboroughNC. It kept going and going. A story of one community member’s vision 9 years ago blossoming into a beloved annual event. (First lantern walk got a permit for 100 people, nearly 1000 showed up and more every year since!)
The NC constitution. It has to mean something. “Sec. 2. Sovereignty of the people. All political power is vested in and derived from the people; all government of right originates from the people, is founded upon their will only, and is instituted solely for the good of the whole.”
I imagine my politics differ greatly from Sheriff C, but I tip my hat to this sign of good sense. There’s a difference between taking a job that’s an exciting opportunity you’re a little afraid of and taking a job that you know you’re wholly unqualified for and may make a mess of.
Things out there are rough, so I’ve got much gratitude for the folks out there offering ways to ease, especially the friend that sent this out at 6:45 AM as an urgent message in the group chat. Mark your calendars.
Early voting in municipal elections starts today at the #HillsboroughNC site. Don’t miss it and don’t forget your Voter ID.
