JennyIL (Gail & Lennie’s human)
@jennyil
She/her. Artist, engineer, cook, photographer, family historian, problem solver, activist. DV survivor. Dog and 2003 Thunderbird owner. Resilient, brave, kind.
Lennie came to hear them and determined that they do not sound enough like coonhounds so he didn’t sing along. But he hopes they continue to find their voices.
It is Friday night and I have to meet people at 7 am to start a bike path cleanup - I do not want to investigate what Gail sees outside the front door. She can’t tell me if it is a rabbit, coyote or someone walking their dog.
Just had someone come to compete stop in an eastbound lane on I90, make a hard right turn in front of me and exit onto 294S. No turn signal.
Lennie saw the canine cardiologist today - no abnormal heart beats, no enlarged heart. Rated excellent personality, great dog, and should win first place in every costume contest.
You could have a dog like Freya - very pretty, very smart. Able to unlock crates and open doors smart.
Or you can have Gail who can solve the puzzles to get the food and treats but prefers taking the puzzles up stairs and dropping them onto the hard wood floor till they break open.
Gail survived her trip to the vet and her vaccinations, slept under the desk during an on line book discussion, at dinner and is now recovering.
I keep telling my son when he criticizes Lennie for not being very smart, that there is something to be said for a not so smart dog if you want a pet and companion.
iPhone camera stopped working - which is tragic because I can no longer take and share pictures of Lennie and Gail in silly costumes. While I am troubleshooting, I discover it is still under warranty - so I contact Verizon. They send me a new one - set up instructions are wrong, of course.
The vast neighbors. Very good at sidewalks and crosswalks,
The vet admired Lennie in and out of costume, found no infection and thinks he has an oddly presenting allergic reaction - he hates the Benadryl and hates the face wipes. Loved the treats and pets.
Lennie has mysterious, random hair loss on his face and ears and dry flaky skin. Took him to the vet today - he was very dramatic. No obvious reason - sent home with medicated wipes (that he hates), Benadryl and omega 3 supplement.
Gochujang glazed ribs - slow cooked in the oven. (My heatwave has ended.)
Rabbit? Gail and Lennie have not figured out whether they are sus or not.
Sheila Lukins USA Cookbook - Raspberry Melon Smoothie. Black Raspberries from Michigan, grocery store cantalope and vanilla yogurt.
Guy in liquor store swore it was not gong to rain this far north today.
Neighbors are taking advantage of the lull between the storms to set off fireworks - Gail has decided she is not afraid of them but they should be afraid of her so she is barking and baying at the door.
Spent $1.99 on a digital copy of Sheila Lukins USA Cookbook - published in 1997 yesterday. Made Cheery Cherry Chicken Salad today which is delicious. My mother grew up in East TX with fruit and pecan filled summer chicken salads. Mine has Michigan cherries and almonds.
Lennie is like that - Gail is terrified. Although it has been mostly thunderstorms.
Lennie is terribly disappointed that I will not let him go meet the Sandhill crane and heron families in the neighborhood.
Kell - Gail and Lennie hope you enjoy your couch while Dad is gone.
Our human said it was too hot for long walks tonight so ours was cut short - something about Lennie seeking shade and lying down if he gets overheated because of his heart - but we got some good sniffs and saw some neighbors.
Gail would like to talk to a manager. How could they combine a multi day celebration of July 4th (tonight is local idiots with fireworks from Wisconsin or Indiana) with thunderstorms?
Gail is having a perfect Sunday morning while I read in bed.
Gail is worried. The 8 days of fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July have started.
Here is the finished quiche. Delicious breakfast or lunch for the week. Contents caramelized onions Canadian bacon, asparagus, Swiss cheese, eggs, cream, spices in a Pillsbury pie crust because they are fine and I don’t want to make my own.
Gail is not complaining that dinner is late because it is still raining out.
Syvie - Gail also will not eat strawberries and Lennie will eat one if it is cut into pieces and he inspects it for unauthorized medication first. (This is a throwback picture - before Gail’s face turned all white)
