Here's a peek at the (WIP) tournament bracket I've been making for Star Spark! Since you're fighting in a tournament, I thought it'd be cool to see a bracket with fun little summaries telling you how the other participants are doing 🙂 #GameDev #IndieGame #ScreenshotSaturday
I'm surprised to not see the one in this photo among that collection.
This week I made phase changes more obvious/harder to miss and updated combos to include a timer bar below the combo inputs. I've also started on the tournament bracket, but I'll wait to show that until it's done 🙂 Star Spark's Steam page: s.team/a/3639950 #StarSpark #GameDev #ScreenshotSaturday
The "aha!" dev moments are few and far between these days, so I was telling a friend about one I had while debugging Star Spark after some friends had playtested it. He uses AI a lot at work these days so his response was "AI probably could've found that :p" I'll take the "aha!" moments, thanks 🙂
Thanks, Mike, this means a lot! ❤️🙇♂️ Here's my game about a roguelite fighting tournament. -- In Star Spark you battle your way through a tournament using timed combos and a deck made of attack, defense, and support actions. Steam page: store.steampowered.com/app/3639950/...
This week I... - added accessibility options for combos (you can double input time or disable them) - made it so players can skip combat rewards (giving a little more control over your deck) - finished up the codex screen Steam page: s.team/a/3639950 #StarSpark #GameDev #ScreenshotSaturday #Godot
Same here. I put down some personal success metrics in my game design doc for Star Spark to keep myself grounded 😂
This morning I made a couple of new gameplay/accessibility options. One option will double the combo input times, so instead of players having 1.7-2.6 seconds they'll have 3.4-5.2 seconds. The other option just disables them entirely. #StarSpark #GameDev #IndieGame #Godot
In Star Spark you battle your way through a tournament using timed combos and a deck made of attack, defense, and support actions. Here's a clip of the codex that I was working on the last few days 🙂 You can wishlist Star Spark on Steam: 🌟 s.team/a/3639950 #GameDev #IndieGame #WishlistWednesday
#MonthlyRecap 2026-06 - helped finish up a deck on a house - played pickleball for the first time - started a small project related to my static site generator - job hunting #StarSpark / #GameDev: - finished event revisions - made a splash screen and codex - improved enemy ai - playtest prep 🙂
Okay, the character codex screen looks less bad now, thank you for bearing with me 😌 #StarSpark #GameDev #ScreenshotSaturday
This week I finished the enemy CPU tweaks, so today I began making a codex section to show info for characters, combat actions you've found so far, and more. It's minimal, but here's a peek. I think I'll include the versus screen sprites later today 🙂 #StarSpark #GameDev #ScreenshotSaturday
In Star Spark you battle your way through a tournament using timed combos and a deck made of attack, defense, and support actions. I'm currently improving the enemy cpu, so here's a clip of the combo input system 🙂 ⬇️➡️🅰️🅰️ 🦶💥👊💥 Steam Page: s.team/a/3639950 #GameDev #IndieGame #WishlistWednesday
Apparently it was supposed to be closer to that according to this: aftermath.site/steam-machin...
In development news, I finished the event revisions 🎉 I updated 10, replaced 15 outright, and only kept 7 of the original events. After I had those working, I made a new enemy for one of the new event battles. I also gave out some playtest keys and set up a feedback form 📝 3/4
This biggest bump this month came from posting during #PitchYaGame, netting +12 in a day. I had a few more deletions this last month, but that's okay. 28/633 is about 4%, so that means 96% of the people who have wishlisted so far haven't removed it 💪 2/3
8 months after launching Star Spark's Steam page, the game now has 633 wishlists, +25 from last month. Marketing was limited to posting on Bluesky and Mastodon using the #WishlistWednesday and #ScreenshotSaturday tags, and then sharing those posts on Discord. #GameDev #GameMarketing #Steam 1/4
The combos are part of the inspiration taken from DBZ: Legendary Super Warriors and make the game feel more like a fighting game. That said, I get how they can be frustrating, so maybe I'll add an option to extend the input times and another to flat out skip the inputs altogether 🤔
This week I got all of the new events in game. So far they're working as expected, but I'll have a Steam playtest soon 😉 There's one last event battle that's still a WIP, but won't get done today b/c of some family stuff, so here's a preview of it. #GameDev #ScreenshotSaturday #Godot #StarSpark
I'm almost done with event updates. Here's a look at a new one called Thin Ice 🙂 In Star Spark you battle your way through a tournament using timed combos and a deck of attack, defense, and support actions. Wishlist on Steam: s.team/a/3639950 #GameDev #IndieGame #WishlistWednesday #Godot
Hard agree. This is what all the character sprites in Star Spark were for a while.
This week I made a splash screen and pixel art for the JoyFlow Games and Godot logos. I tried a blue version of the Godot logo, but the black and white looked better here. I also started implementing the event updates, aiming to have those done soon 💪 #StarSpark #GameDev #ScreenshotSaturday
I made a splash screen, so here's a clip of the game booting up followed by Serj kicking a bot 💥 In Star Spark you battle your way through a tournament using timed combos and a deck of attack, defense, and support actions. Steam page: s.team/a/3639950 #GameDev #IndieGame #WishlistWednesday #Godot
