Big Four Mountain dominates the frame, remnant snow packed into couloirs and clinging to north-facing ledges well into June. The mountain drops hard to a valley floor that has gone completely green, bright meadow grass and leafing shrubs in the foreground giving way to a dense conifer belt that pushes as far up the slopes as the rock allows. A sharp subsidiary ridge juts into the frame on the left, and clouds trail across a saturated blue sky behind the summit.

A solar halo fills nearly the entire sky, a perfect luminous ring with a warm amber blush along its inner edge fading to cold white. The sun burns at its center, bright and diffuse, positioned just above the serrated crest of Mount Shuksan. That green is not real. Except it absolutely is. Found this larva on a piece of weathered wood, and the translucency combined with the lighting made it look like it was glowing. 🐛 #BlueSkyArtShow #macro #ColorADay #GreenSat #macrophotography #nature #insect

A small caterpillar rests on a weathered wooden surface, its body an almost impossibly vivid neon green, translucent enough that light seems to pass through it from within.
