Our next project is to knock down that shed and build a new one. We’ll probably spring for a new rain cover for the washing line too. Not sure if they make them in chain mail though so whatever we get Poppy will quickly destroy.

Just arrived!! Quite surprised this hasn’t generated much press. Not that I’ve seen anyway. A 52 yr old previously unreleased recording of Brian James (The Damned) with his first ever band ‘Bastard’. A band name that ensured they would never sign to a major label 😂
Poppy caught (and killed 😢) her first mouse this morning. She’s currently sulking seemed quite proud of herself at the time. Now she’s sulking and loudly questioning us as to why we won’t let her back outside to play with it.

Poppy’s feeling sorry for herself after learning the hard way that bees have stings. Can’t really see but her front paw is quite swollen and she had a trip to the vets this morning to add insult to injury. I say ‘learned’. I’m guessing there was nothing learned at all :-)
We’ve got a Canadian guest (for the 50th part tomorrow) staying. They brought my snack drug of choice!! Canadian crack or Hawkins Cheezies as they’re more formally known. Think Cheesy Nik Naks on steroids and you’ll be almost in the right ballpark. Bribe accepted, I’ll cook them dinner :-)
First batch of red velvet cupcakes out of the oven and cooling. Second load ready to go into the oven. Nigellas Guinness cake made already. Then just a batch of Guinness cupcakes to go. My whole day is baking!! Will frost them all on Saturday morning. #partyplanning
Not really a day for swimming but I do love Brighton. Even if I have just been served the worst pizza I’ve ever had in my entire life. How do you get pizza wrong ffs?

A cheeky glass of homemade pale ale to help things along!!! It’s supposed to be cloudy btw - double hopped (for those who know about these things :-) ) If I could ever dream of being able to afford it (I won’t) - a small taproom and restaurant is my pipe dream.

Not all mine!! And likely lots going into the fridge. Korean gochuchang glazed chicken kebabs and courgette, red pepper & chorizo kebabs. Underneath a couple of cheeky sausages. Served with chimichuri drenched crispy new potatoes and lime and chilli roasted (on the bbq) sweetcorn.

Can’t say I particularly deserve it this week. I’m having it anyway :-) And …. a London (though not a London brewery - Thornbridge) pint under £6!!!! Which … is a little under what I got paid for that story after exchange rates and PayPal fees so … woohoo!!
Exactly 2 years ago (almost to the minute) we came home to find our beautiful cat Lebowski dead in the road. So … going to raise a drink to the best cat ever to have lived (equal best obviously now Poppy’s on the scene). I do acknowledge that ALL cats are the best cats to have ever lived 🐾
