Look, I don't hand letter EVERYTHING; just the important stuff! . The Futura does help sell the vintage appeal.
I love Art Deco's Anatomy-as-Architecture approach to the human form. I made this background mural for a theatre scene in my comic as an attempt to that approach.
for those of you not following me on Insta - here is info about an upcoming show that I'll be at in late August. If you are in or near Oakland, swing by and say hi!
The burden of being a comic fan is that there will always be newer/better format releases of material you already own - and the decision to double-dip manifests. Though I already own much of the material in these new Clover Press collections - they are, indeed, nicer than my old TPB from 1986
Taking heads - if you need an exposition device in your comic - you could do a lot worse than newscasters.
I love designing the bureaucratic ephemera that pervades the world of my comic. This is reminiscent of the end cards of every Lucha Libre movie that I love and will close the movie-within-the-comic section of this issue.
For about the first ten years of his life, my Father wanted to be a Cowboy - he especially loved Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger, So, on this Father's Day, I got this tattoo. Happy Father's Day, Papa - miss you.
Last doodle for tonight. I really want to do a Dia de Los Deadman story some day - i could have a full pitch together in like 2 days, if DC ever asked.
A couple very small doodles (2.5” x 3.5” that’ll be available in tomorrow’s stream
This news is out in the world today - I got to do a Star Trek cover! Coming this fall
17" x 11", ink on Bristol - Spidey! I will be raffling this piece off to anyone who buys anything on my whatnot stream with Prestos Comic Shop on this Saturday, 6.20.26.
In my 33 years as a Graphic Designer, I have seen and designed a metric TON of shields with banners, but this has got to be the ABSOLUTE KOOKIEST version I have ever come across - AND I LOVE IT!! I will be ripping this off for something at some point.
