Was picking up dinner from QDOBA and I heard this cheerful chirping from above. I look up, and there’s a little bird just chattering away, happy and content as can be, just chilling in the sign’s A-hole.
Is there something they aren’t telling us about Mitch McConnell’s health situation?
Nebula noms close on March 1. Hugo noms close on March 28. Grammys first round voting closes in mid-October. The Ellie Badge--wait, that doesn't have open voting. The Masked Singer voting is...I think it's going on right now? KITEMASTER and SLAYERS OF OLD are eligible for at least two of these...
Swung by Schuler Books in Okemos this afternoon to sign some SLAYERS OF OLD stock in the back room. Okemos store has signed copies now, and the other stores should be getting theirs soon.
"Bani Adam," a poem by Saadi Shirazi. This translation comes from PROBABILITY MOON, by Nancy Kress.
It’s been a while, which means we’re long overdue for another Nazi Punch of the Day. This page of Catman blinding a Nazi comes from Villains United #3, by @gailsimone.bsky.social and Val Semeiks. #NaziPunching #NPotD
Somehow, this line hits very differently in 2025 than it did back in 2017...
It's that time of year again! ❄️🎁⛄ That's right, it's Award Eligibility Post Season! I had two fantasy novels out this year. KITEMASTER, from Caezik Science Fiction & Fantasy, and SLAYERS OF OLD, from @dawbooks.bsky.social. If you'll be nomming this year and want to read one or both, hit me up.
Of course photography counts as artwork! If you see this, post your black and white artwork.
The more I do the writing thing, the more I sympathize with Snoopy and his struggles...
My author photo has a much younger-looking beard than me. Not sure how that happened…
Absolutely no disrespect intended to the dead. Names change with the times, and all that. With that said, a photo from our walk this afternoon…
Looks like the trend of the week is sharing the very first sentences of my book to convince you to read it. Am I doing this right?
Um ... let's just say that line did undergo a bit of revision from one draft to the next.
Maple spent part of tonight trying to master the art of Not Being Seen.
It's Publication Day for SLAYERS OF OLD!!! From @dawbooks.bsky.social's official description: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Golden Girls in this humorous contemporary standalone fantasy about a group of former Chosen Ones coming out of retirement to save the world one last time."
I only got up for a minute. This is what I came back to. This cat has some Opinions about my writing.
Butterfly update. Wings are still curled and will probably stay that way, from what we’ve read. But it has feasted on a lump of juicy strawberry, along with some sugar water, and it is much more energetic today.
Sitting here eating my lunch when Jen walks in and says, “Hold this.” Apparently we’re doing butterfly urgent care now. (Not asking for advice. Just sharing the randomness of my day.)
Oh, sweet!!! Check out the cover of the August 2025 issue of Library Journal!
It’s B&N’s pre-order sale time again! 25% off for members. Just in case there was somethng coming out next month that you were looking forward to reading… www.barnesandnoble.com/w/slayers-of...
Tappy got a haircut. I’m also very impressed that she managed to sprawl out *between* the sunbeams 🙄😝
