All opinions are other people's passed off as my own.
Indeed. Whilst 'decline' is debatable, a 40 year narrative where all goodies accrued to asset owners - London/S.E. + old people - is very real. But admitting the Green voting urban yoof and Reform voting left behind areas have cause for complaint, means admitting systemic changes have to be made.
100%. Rather than Ron Swanson (he is great though 😆), channel your inner Leslie Knope to emphasise how looking after each other/improving things, is just who we are. And if at first you don't succeed....
Voters who didn't take Starmer's election slogan of 'stability is change' at face value. (Conversely, I think Starmer is still in the denial stage)
With more of the same a losing gambit, authoritarian conservatives - who couldn't care less about enlightenment principles - plan to make an unholy alliance with a far right who they think they can control?
Yup, young adults still living with mum and dad have to endure stories about the awful 70s when there weren't cheap phones/computers/cars. I wonder why crumblies vote for the status quo whilst the yoof don't?
The many planning reforms over the decades have delivered how many extra private sector homes? Did we start doing anything different c.1979?
Yup, all the planning reforms over the decades have resulted in the private sector constructing approx. the same number of homes.
'Mangling of the information system' - whilst economics deals in hypotheticals, technocrats sell it as fact. And if reality differs from the modelling people react by saying 'don't piss on my boots and tell me it's raining'. Was it really a surprise when this was the message that stuck?
'hypotheticals can't be proved and plausible outcomes had to be modelled'. The boy who cried wolf? If previous claims/guesstimates of economists proved mostly accurate Remain would have won? 'there are winners and losers' - Remain swerving political economy is why this bird in hand message won?
Yes, and if the obverse of national debt is 'net private savings', whose savings are increasing? The blue line is your average Trump supporter?
A common thread with outsourcing? 'Tim, how are we getting on with procurement?' 'Fujitsu are jolly nice chaps.'
So if adopting € is a condition for rejoining EU, that will go well. But at least we can have fish and chips in Cromer. 😁
So let me see, those who materially benefit from the current regime's unresponsiveness to democracy, are pleased Starmer will stay on?
Alarmist demonising by the mainstream of anyone popular on the left is like clockwork. Remember when 'Red Ed' constituted a threat to humanity (except more dangerous) for his opposition to public sector cuts?
100% agree about Reform's vile us and them politics. But Hayek superior to others on the right? His ambivalence towards market abuses of power? Support for South African, Chilean, Indonesian regimes whilst being "alarmed at" Thatcher's "slow movement on union reform"? Liberty Hayek style?
