I paid tribute to Myron Manor collective in the latest comic, Black Sunday, because of the remarkable organizing efforts made in '26 to stay in their homes, & now it seems the matter is finally going to have its day at City Hall tomorrow. To learn more, check out defendmountpleasant.ca Resist!
Thinking about Jennifer Finch and the heartbreaking news of her health problems putting her permanently out of action. Love her and L7, & am super grateful to have seen her in full thrash mode at the Rickshaw in ‘22 for the anniversary tour of Bricks Are Heavy. Keep fighting, Jen.
#sketchoftheday: Drawn while decompressing from VanCAF last week at Mount Pleasant Park. Read new comics ‘til sun set.
These two lines contained the most food trucks I've ever seen amassed in one place. And I arrived having eaten. #khatsalanostreetfest
The updated Black Sunday is now available at Lucky’s Comics (Main & 15th), tho in limited quantities due to VanCAF kind of cleaning me out. I’ll be going back to print on it soon. ‘Sunday’ is my little treatise on displacement and communal bonds... as well as the push back in our community.
‘Notes On The Fire’, one of my three new VanCAF releases, is now on the shelves at Lucky’s comics. It reprints the stories I drew about the E. 10th fire in the Mt Pleasant neighbourhood & the tenants' struggle to find justice, as well as updates looking at the Vancouver's housing issues.
After a full month of crunching 24/7 for VanCAF (is anyone hearing the sound of tiny violins playing?), fresh air today was welcome. Hanging at Mount Pleasant Park tonight, folding chair and all.
Had a Gillman sketch cover request from Ryan Heshka at VanCAF. Given that Ryan is Vancouver’s premiere creature feature artist, I knew I had to come correct! VanCAF is done. I had fun. A lot of people came by and showed love, which, believe me, I appreciate. My thanks to all involved.
My take on the beautiful program cover by @crablegscomics for VanCAF 2026. There again today, 10 am-5pm, Yaletown Community Roundhouse if you feel like stopping by. Free to attend!
My modest table set up today at VanCAF. Some items have sold, but more is in stock. Thanks to everyone who stopped in to give some love. Come by Sunday for day 2 at table E 7! @jeffreyellis.ca is in bg. You should visit him, too! The Roundhouse Community Center, 10am-5pm, free to attend!
This is me, where I will be, come by and see! Or visit others. A lot of big talents in this room. Vancouver Comic Arts Festival Saturday & Sunday at the Roundhouse Community Center. Free to attend.
I'll be at VanCAF this weekend with some new 'zines and the sketchbook collections from this year and last. Table E7, Saturday and Sunday 5-10 pm at the Yaletown Roundhouse. Free to attend!
My final robot post-it from the STICKY 5 show. “Worker”. You can still see the show at One More Life gallery today! 12-4pm at the City Center Lodge. Look for the lobby area. Dozens of great pieces, 25.00 ea (mine are sold, tho!).
Returning to the neighbourhood. The updated reprint of 'Black Sunday' (a story drawn in '21 about displacement) will be available in July.
I should mention post-Father's Day that all my "Dad" strips will be collected in one cheaply amassed item for July. Did he deserve better? Heck, anyone around me does! It's all good sport, tho. #smallpress
#sketchoftheday: Figure study in the mini-sketchbook. Incredible dance routine by Meghan Sannet provided the inspo. Looking for those silhouettes! #sketchbook #figurestudy #formandgrace
I decided to put my J Kirby tribute from Futurama Comics (#8) in the new sketchbook, & this page kinda popped when I was going back through the archives. Lo & behold, someone brought a "Bongo-Free-For-All" @ 2012 to the table at a recent show, and the page had been repurposed as a special pin-up!
My li'l hiding robot is hiding amongst all the wow-good art covering the walls of the STICKY 5 show, still running today 'til 4 at Gallery 881 on E Hastings (run)! This one's now in the possession of @meditatingbunny.bsky.social, the original sticky note king who's curated shows previous!
Line to get into the 5th annual STICKY post-it show at Gallery 881 last night @ 881 E Hastings. Still running today, 12-4pm. Lots of brill' pieces for 25.00 each.
The STICKY 5 show tonight (and tomorrow)! 100 + artists, all pieces $25.00. Ka-wow! 881 E Hastings, 7-11 pm.

When you have to clear off the fridge of a friend who's passed and you find this drawing. Art by Ted Baker, date TBD. Thanks, Ted. Nailed it.
The math of comics. I know you don't do this. Working on a post-script to 'Black Sunday', which will be re-printed in July.
We don't usually see each other's headers. Here's mine. Quote post with yours.
Was sweet connecting with Daniel today, who came all the way from Germany to get the new sketchbook edition! The overseas requests are always the classics 🙂. I also sent both Daniel and his partner immediately to Lucky's Comics after coffee. Part of the service.
#sketchoftheday: Study of the vines 'round back of the Sylvia hotel. From a snap taken by Susan. #sketchbook #urbanart #watercolour #environmentstudy
This show is bananapants crammed with good artists. There are some pieces of meticulous beauty being sold for $25 bucks without exception! I'm there, too. Mine are pretty humble, but you're welcome to buy them all the same! Opening June 12th at 881 Gallery.
