What do I even do with this? Can we stop hiding racism behind Norse mythology? I’m tired of “Norse” used as an excuse to whitewash fantasy especially. People of Colour aren’t a political device, Serkis. Also, “not relevant”?! Seriously, fuck you, too Who knew 3rd Age Hobbits were racist bigots

Serkis nods his head before answering and it is clear this is a subject he has given a lot of thought: "Tolkien himself was influenced a lot by Norse mythology, there's a lot of that feeling.
"The Shire feels very, very much like a very, a very white, you know..."

He tails off and pauses before continuing, with greater certainty:

"They're not very concerned about what goes on beyond the borders of The Shire, but they know they don't want people coming in.

"Yes, there have been criticisms," he says, acknowledging arguments that are now almost a quarter of a century old.

"This particular film is somewhat acknowledging that. But we don't think we will be doing a politically correct just-casting-for-the sake-of-casting-and-ticking-boxes version of the film. So, it's only where relevant basically."

Another library borrow that I will have to buy. It’s a stunning book. The language is beautiful, and you will cry. For Ages 10+ but espec for adults who need to learn empathy & compassion. This should be required reading in schools. Gift it to that person who won’t stop blathering about refugees

Every single one of them should be made to read these two books at the very least. And if you’ve never read them I highly recommend doing so. They are beautifully written stories of empathy and community. Tyger also has some incredible artwork.

Yes. Yes you all fucking do. Especially to Leslie Jones, who was harassed with some of the most vile, disgusting racist garbage over this film, in addition to the misogyny all the women got. This was always a good film, but a lot of y’all were blinded by rage-bait to realise it.

But for the film's belated fans, its lasting message isn't about injustice of gender politics in 21st-century Hollywood. Its legacy lies in its moral that being a good person takes precedence over all else. Does that need saying more today than it did 10 years ago? One thing is certain: we all owe the cast a huge apology.

Watching it the first time with friends in the cinema: When Holtzmann had her big moment, we were a whole row of queer women just going “fuuuuuuck 😍😍😍” I was lucky to meet Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig at the 🇸🇬 premiere, and they were lovely. And I was one of the rare GB2016 cosplayers for years

While it is Book 2, it is a standalone story. I found it to be so much better than the first. The yuri was decent enough & the girls had more agency in this. Still more historical romance than fantasy. Also has themes of xenophobia and racial crimes.

Basically you want to go to Settings, then Moderation, and set the following. You can choose "Show" instead of "Warn" if you'd prefer. Just dont select "Hide" unless you want some folks to disapper from your feeds/timeline.
